The Janitor produced nine wins, four placings and more than $200,000 from 15 starts in an impressive season in 2025.

But, it could have been even bigger.

The talented gelding was no further than a neck from the winner in the Blacks A Fake, Sunshine Sprint and The Rising Sun.

An eighth placing in the Len Smith Mile was also an enormous run after an early error.

He finished 2025 with a gallant third placing in the Blacks A Fake. The graduation from open class winner to Grand Circuit force appeared complete.

Trained by Chantal Turpin and driven by husband Pete McMullen, The Janitor has been given time, the patience and planning needed for the gelding to develop into a serious prospect.

From four starts this season, The Janitor has two wins and a narrow second behind Leap To Fame in the Miracle Mile.

Securing a track record in the Waikato Flying Mile at Cambridge with a 1.51.4 mile, a second line barrier thwarted his chances in The Race, which was won by Leap To Fame.

Enjoying a let up following The Race, The Janitor has announced himself as a genuine contender for the upcoming Inter Dominion.

The Janitor and his Group 1-winning stablemate, Gus, returned from their two race New Zealand campaign in the middle of April.

Turpin has set a tentative plan for The Janitor to trial at Albion Park before the end of the month.

“They had one week off and are back fast working now,” Turpin said.

“Gus will probably step out at the trials next Friday and The Janitor the following week.

“Ideally, we would like to give Gus two or three runs before the first heat and The Janitor maybe just two runs.”

Gus is ranked second in the Trotters Inter Dominion with defending champion Arcee Phoenix occupying the top ranking.

Similarly to The Janitor, Gus has enjoyed a break following the New Zealand trip and a likely return is penciled in for June.

Gus is the stable's only nomination in the trotting championship. Attachment, Im The Falcon and Wisper A Secret make up a four-pronged attack in the pacers division with The Janitor.

Wisper A Secret had a mixed season in 2025 with six wins from 20 starts. The 2024 Rising Sun champion was not at his best during the Queensland Constellations and The Starlights.

“He has come back good, but there is no guarantee he will go in the series," Turpin said.

“We have the nom in and we will see how he comes up, but if he is not up to it, he won’t go in it.”

The six-year-old will make his first appearance of 2026 with a trial on Tuesday afternoon at Albion Park.

Attachment has recently graduated to open company with a 1.49.8 mile and looks safe to make the Inter Dominion after a first ranking of 31.

“He will go in it if he gets the ranking and it will probably suit him with the longer distance," Turpin said.

The Turpin stable will unleash their biggest ever assault on the 2026 Queensland Constellations and have firepower at their disposal in every feature race.

Move It Lou was recently taken to Sydney for the New South Wales Derby and could be joined in the Queensland Derby by some newcomers to the stable that are yet to step out.

“We have had some new ones turn up, but we will just have to see how they go," Turpin said.

Alwaysbjoy is on target for the Oaks, while fellow filly Havtimetodream will miss the Constellations after undergoing colic surgery.

The stable produced another two-year-old winner on Tuesday with Aardies A Star. The team may have their first Protostar runner ready for July.

“We have a few nice two-year-olds, if someone wanted to give us a slot, we would probably consider it," Turpin said.
