Menangle Park trainer Jason Grimson will make a three-pronged attack on this Saturday night’s $1million Garrards Miracle Mile at Club Menangle.

The premier sprint which is recognised internationally was first run in 1967 and was won by Robin Dundee who posted a record-breaking time of 1:59.

Over the past 58 years, the prestigious mile has captured the imagination of sports lovers and Grimson is hoping to add his name to the list of horsemen who have trained the winner.

Grimson was pleased to have qualified two horses in the lead up sprint races last weekend with former Kiwi Chase A Dream and his champion Swayzee each finishing second in their respective qualifiers while four-year-old mare Captains Mistress earned her spot in the famous mile by taking out the $250,000 Chariots Of Fire, an invitation that owner Michael Boots was thrilled to accept.

Former Tamworth reinsman Jye Coney is poised to live out his childhood dream when the 18-year-old takes the drive aboard Chase A Dream while Grimson’s regular driver Cam Hart has a big decision to make as to whether he will drive Swayzee or Captains Mistress.

Both horses were ultra impressive over the weekend in their respective races which will make Hart’s decision that much harder.

Swayzee is likely to start from the pole position as the second emergency Speak The Truth came up with gate one.

The champion pacer does not possess a lot of gate speed, and the inside draw may come against him.

Captains Mistress flies the gate and after drawing to come out of three, should be able to assume a forward position.

With New Zealand Cup winner Kingman drawn to her inside and Queensland champion Leap To Fame to her outside, there is every likelihood that Captains Mistress will end up in a perfect trailing position.

Hart who has won most feature races on the Grand circuit is yet to taste victory in the Miracle Mile and will decide on who he will drive once the barrier draw is made.

Hart has developed a wonderful association with both horses which will make that choice even more difficult.
