The 2024 6ty° Youngbloods Challenge will celebrate a major milestone when held in Launceston on Sunday afternoon, 1 December.
It will be the 25th year that 6ty° (formally Bullock Consulting) has been the naming right’s partner for the state’s premier junior drivers series.
The series was traditionally held across the state’s three major clubs before last year’s change to run the four heats on one program, which will again be the case in 2024.
Tasracing is delighted to announce the 10 drivers invited to compete in this year’s series. These drivers must be 23 years of age or younger and meet the selection criteria as per Tasracing policy.
In alphabetical order, they are:
- Ethan Arnott
- Charlie Castles
- Jordan Chibnall
- Brodie Davis
- Jacob Duggan
- Mitch Ford
- Grace Jones
- Malcom Jones
- Olivia Weidenbach
- Kayleb Williams
The four heats are worth $9,700, ranging from 30 to 69 on the national rating system, and will be restricted to a field size of 10 horses per race.
All heats are rating exempt.
The 6ty° Youngbloods Challenge has been Tasmania’s premier junior drivers’ series since it was introduced to the calendar in 1986 when dead heated by Richard Housego and Leigh Dornauf, with many of the state’s most respected names appearing on the honour roll since.
Recent 6ty° Youngbloods Challenge winners include; 2023 Olivia Weidenbach, 2022 Mitch Ford, 2021 Bronte Miller, 2020 Sam Clotworthy, 2019 Taylor Ford, 2018 (Nov) Conor Crook.
The Launceston meeting on 1 December will also feature the Group 3 Bandbox and Globe Derby Finals for the Tasbred Three-Year Olds and the $50,000 Tassie Golden Apple Final.
Nominations for the meeting close at 9:30 am on 26 November.
