Bathurst trained gelding Glitter Aint Gold is proving to be the current star that has emerged from within the Western District, confirming that status by claiming yet another metropolitan feature last Saturday night at Club Menangle, taking out the $30,600 listed Vic Frost Free For All.

Driven by one of the state’s leading reinsmen, 18-year-old Jett Turnbull and trained by his father Nathan, who was able to quinella the race with stablemate Jorge Street, Glitter Aint Gold has now firmly established himself amongst the most inform pacers in New South Wales, taking advantage of the absence of other local stars who are competing at the Winter Carnival in Brisbane.

After the win, Jett said that the horse continues to improve each week, stepping up to the mark against his open class rivals.

“He is a cool horse, who has just continued to get better with racing," he said.

“Although a couple of the better performed local horses are currently in Queensland or are out spelling, the Saturday night free-for-all fields have been really strong, and our fella is still learning his craft to a degree, so it is good that he has been able to keep winning.

“His best attribute is his point-to-point speed, either when in front or racing with a sit.

“Going into the race on Saturday I knew if we could hold up early and sit on a horse like Ripp which is where we landed, he would be really hard to beat provided we got the luck, and that is how it played out.

“I have not really spoken with Dad yet on the future plans for him.

“Obviously being rated an NR120 class pacer, he will have to continue racing in these open class races.

“I was also really happy to see Jorge Street finish just behind us for his connections too.

“My decision on which horse I drive between him and Glitter Aint Gold is a hard one because they have both been super horses to me, and I feel that Jorge Street has another good win in him soon."
