Shes Allaboutluv ($1.90 fav) handled her rivals with relative ease when claiming the 2026 Brighton Cup in Hobart on Sunday night.
Driver Ethan Arnott settled the mare near the tail of the small field before landing in the one-one near the 1500m after mid-race moves at the front of the field.
Arnott drove a confident race from the 700m, with the Always B Miki mare letting down in quarters of 28.3s and 27.5s, on her way to a 17.3m win over Custom Harley ($6.50) and Waves Of Chance ($6).
The mile rate of 1:56.7s was only 0.2s outside the fillies and mares track record, which is held by Beach Diamond.
“We have been really happy with her since we got her. She has come on in leaps and bounds,” said winning trainer Chris Howlett.
The mare had her first start for Chris’ stable in February after previously racing in New Zealand and Queensland.
Since arriving in Tasmania, she has won eight of her 10 starts.
Howlett confirmed that he had considered sending the mare to Queensland with Triedtotellya as a travelling companion, but has decided to keep the mare in Tasmania.
“She might go in the Discretionary next week (in Launceston), and then we are heading off for the Inter Dominion for two weeks, so she will have a little break then.
“We will just see what’s about for her after that, when we get back. I know there are better mares races later in the year. But, I wouldn’t be frightened to chuck her on the boat and take her over to Melton if there was something suitable,” the trainer and part-owner said.
Howlett, who previously trained and remains a part-owner of Triedtotellya, said that the gelding will commence his trip to Brisbane for next month’s Inter Dominion on Wednesday.
“The decision to send him to Rohan originally was mine, because I knew how good the horse was.
“I don’t interfere with him, and I just leave it all up to Rohan,” said Howlett.
Hillier took driving honours on the Hobart card, combining with trainer Paul Ashwood for a winning double with Carmen Emjay ($1.30 fav) and McMayhem ($4).
Trainer Tammy Langley prepared her 350th career win with Itsmenotu ($12), who won the second race of the program.
