USA Horse of the Year Confederate in full stride

The first ‘down under’ crop of the world champion and 2023 USA Horse of the Year Confederate is expected to attract significant interest in the weanling section of the Australian Pacing Gold Autumn online mixed sale to be held on May 24 and 25.

There are two weanling colts by the Breeders Crown and Meadowlands Pace winner entered for the sale, both nominated by Londonderry breeder-owner Michelle Wardle and both NSW Breeders Challenge eligible.

Lot 1 is out of the Rock N Roll Heaven mare Heaven Helpus NZ, a half-sister to the NZ Group winners The More The Better and Sooner The Bettor and a close relative of the great Christian Cullen and current NZ pacing sensation Got The Chocolates.

The other Confederate colt (Lot 2) is a half-brother to the APG Gold Bullion winner and NSW Breeders Challenge runner-up My Ultimate Byron and a member of the same family as the Breeders Crown champion Devil Dodger.

The siring colossus Bettor’s Delight has three entries – two fillies and a colt – in the sale.

The first of the fillies is Lot 6, who is out of the Group 2 winner Punch Line, the dam of the Hobart Pacing Cup winner He’s Ideal and a member of the same branch of the noted Larrakeyah Lady tribe as Petracca, Treachery, Major Secret, Beauty Secret and Perfect Class.

Lot 7 is a half-sister to seven sub 2:00 winners including the NSW Breeders Challenge winner and multiple Group placegetter Tay Tay and the Listed winner Struve.

The lone Bettor’s Delight colt, Lot 12, is out of a Mach Three half-sister to the Vicbred Super Series and Breeders Crown champion Wrapper’s Delight and the Group 3 winner Watch List. He is QBred eligible.

Cattlewash, the sire of the undefeated USA Horse of the Year Beau Jangles, is represented by a colt out of an Art Major half-sister to six winners including the 1:50 performer Ready For Battle. He is listed as Lot 3.

Art Major himself has a single entry (Lot 4), a sister to the NZ and Australian 2YO of the Year and successful sire Follow The Stars and a half-sister to the Group 1 winner First Responder and the APG Final placegetter Stefsbest.

Sweet Lou, last year’s leading Australian sire, is represented by Lot 8, a colt from a 1:56 sister or half-sister to nine winners – all inside 2:00 - including the Group winners Benicio and Let’s Go To Brazil.

The Inter Dominion and Miracle Mile hero Lennytheshark has a half-sister to two winners including a Group 3 placegetter as Lot 5.

There are three trotting colts listed for sale and all are Vicbred eligible.

The Muscle Hill horse E L Titan is represented by a pair of colts, one out of Maori Queen, a half-sister to the dam of the outstanding racemare Jilliby Ballerini (Lot 11) and the other from a daughter of La Coocaracha, the dam of the Inter Dominion The Locomotive and Dance Craze (Lot 9).

King Of The North, a million dollar winning son of Walner, has a colt from his second crop as Lot 10. He’s out of a daughter of the Listed winner Brylin Crescent and from the immediate family of the star trotters Aldebaran Keepa, Enghien and Jazz Legend.
