Susan Is Her Name winning the 2025 Macarthur Mile
GIFTED trotting mare Susan Is Her Name is ready to race again.
But co-trainers Emma Stewart and Clayton Tonkin are in no rush with their sights firmly set on the Brisbane Inter Dominion.
“Her trial was terrific and she’s really good at home, but we’re happy to just keep her ticking along at the moment,” Stewart said.
“We might look to trial her again and then give her a couple of runs before Brisbane.”
The six-year-old hasn’t raced since winning the Group 1 Macarthur Mile at Menangle on May 10, last year.
She stunningly ran-down Keayang Zahara and remains the only trotter to have beaten that champion mare in 29 starts.
Such has been Susan Is Her Name’s struggle with injuries, she has only raced 17 times for 11 wins, five placings and banked $218,565.
Along with this latest year away from the track, Susan Is Her Name didn’t race for nine months (November 19, 2022 to August 18, 2023) and then another 10 months away from the track (September 16, 2023 to July 17, 2024).
She is part of a strong assault Stewart and Tonkin are planning on the Brisbane series from July 4-18.
They have nominated five pacers: Bay Of Biscay, Miki To Success, Fox Dan, Oliver Dan and War Dan Buddy.
