Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) has introduced a fuel relief rebate to support participants facing increased travel costs.
Trainers and drivers will receive temporary rebates from tomorrow (April 1) through May 31 to partly offset the increase in petrol and diesel prices.
HRV CEO Matt Isaacs said the rebate was recognition of the additional costs that participants faced.
“The petrol and diesel spike has placed a significant cost burden on participants, and these measures will go some way to compensating our trainers and drivers,” Isaacs said.
“Along with yesterday's Federal Government’s fuel excise reduction, this announcement provides needed support to participants during the cost instability.”
The rebate will deliver:
- $10 per starter for trainers who travel less than 100km
- $20 per starter for trainers who travel more than 100km
- Drivers will receive a $10 ex-gratia payment per drive
