VETERAN horseman Geoff Webster is looking to turn back the clock this weekend.
Set to return to his former stomping ground - Globe Derby - tomorrow night, Webster hopes to celebrate the 30th anniversary of his initial Derby success in a perfect manner.
Driving Keep It Up, Webster captured the 1995 South Australia Derby before completing a double the following season with No Frolicking.
Little did anyone realise at the time, No Frolicking's triumph was the end of an era to a certain degree as the last local to win the Classic for nearly two decades.
In fact, since the filly upstaged the boys, only one local - Glengowan in 2011 - has won the Derby.
Even Webster has played a role in the interstate dominance.
Moving to Victoria several years after No Frolicking's win, Webster was back 'home' to secure the 2013 Derby with Flaming Flutter.
This time around Webster will tackle a Derby heat with handy youngster Major Crunch, which has drawn wide in barrier six.
"It's a very ordinary draw," Webster said. "I would've thought they'd let me come back as a local, but they've given me the visitors' draw!
"He's a nice type, which is certainly capable of winning this and the Derby next week, but the draw has definitely made it tougher."
