LEADINGreinsman Robbie Morris knows every inch of the paceway at Menangle having lived at its doorstep well before kicking off his successful driving career.

And the colourful personality will be looking to use that experience to his advantage on Saturday night when he takes the reins behind Path To Greatness in the $2.1m TAB Eureka.

Following Tuesday morning’s barrier draw, Morris was buoyed by the Grant Dixon-trained gelding coming up with gate four and admits that he will have options to find the right position with the gelding over the staying 2300m journey.

“I am happy that we have drawn there,” said Morris.

“There is speed to our inside, and also plenty to the outside, but I do feel we will have options on where we will be early doors.

“Having so many three-year-olds in the race this year brings a whole new dimension to the race.

“Looking at the draw, it all could be won or lost in the first 300m; it is just one of those sorts of fields.”

Path To Greatness will join stablemates Fate Awaits and Call To Order in the field, providing trainer Grant Dixon and owners Kevin and Kay Seymour with a three-pronged assault on the rich race.

While the Seymours’ own slot is represented by Path to Greatness, Call To Order gained automatic qualification through Racing Queensland’s ‘The Hayden’ back in the winter while their third runner Fate Awaits was selected by Bathurst slot holders Wayne and Julie Loader and their Western Jewel syndicate.

Dixon has opted to take the reins behind Fate Awaits, who has drawn positively in gate three, and long-time associate of his stable Adam Sanderson has been given the drive on Call To Order, who has the task ahead of him from barrier nine.

Other notable outcomes coming out of Tuesday morning’s barrier draw included a gate 11 draw for race favourite Bay Of Biscay and gate eight for Fighter Command, who is an easing second elect.
