Leading Tasmanian driver Dylan Ford will be out to continue his good form in the sulky when harness racing heads to Hobart on Sunday night.

Ford won four of the seven races in Launceston on Friday night, winning with I Want It All, Colby Art, Iden Lady Lincoln and Rollin Mary, who were all prepared by Ford’s mother, Tammy Langley.

The four winners saw Dylan’s season total reach 45 winners, which sees him 20 wins clear on the state’s drivers title, while Tammy has 58 winners this season, 10 wins clear at the top of the trainer’s premiership.

“We had a few nice draws in suitable races, and coming back to the mile helped a couple of them,” said Dylan.

The pair have several chances on Sunday’s Hobart card, including Inside Three Bars in race two, an up to national rating 49 pace over 1609m.

The three-year-old gelded son of The Storm Inside will be second-up from a spell, but he failed to finish at his first-up effort in Launceston on 2 May, where he choked down after over-racing near the 1000m point.

“He had a habit of pulling early days and being first up with horses around him, and the occasion got to him.

“He had trialled well prior and relaxed in a trial (since his first-up race), and from the pole draw over the mile, I expect him to go well,” said Ford about the six-start maiden.

Ford and Langley will also combine with the Art Major colt Horatius Speculo (pictured) in the opening race.

The pacer won on debut at Carrick late last year and hasn’t raced since finishing second in Hobart on 17 January.

“He has had two good trials. Mitch (Ford) gave him a good report on his trial from Monday.

“He is not fully wound up, but he has got a big preparation ahead, and he should be thereabouts,” said the driver.

Sunday’s eight-race card will be shown on Sky Racing 1 and Tasracing Live. The opening race is scheduled for 17:25.
