Cricket’s all-star band will mix with Australian rock royalty when season 2 of the Harness Racing New South Wales Carnival of Cups series culminates at Penrith Paceway on 15 March.
Famed group Six & Out have been added to the Penrith entertainment line-up and will perform alongside music luminaries Birds of Tokyo and Sarah McLeod on the trackside stage.
Six & Out is made up of former state and international cricketers – most notably legendary fast-bowler Brett Lee and his brother Shane. They’re joined by test off-spinner Gavin Robertson and their state teammates Brad McNamara and Richard Chee Quee – who brings energy to the stage as the band’s charismatic lead singer.
The band has enjoyed a comeback over the past few months, following the recent Australia vs India test series circuit and playing gigs in capital cities across the country.
Their reunion was tracked and documented in a series broadcast on Kayo and Fox Sports.
“It’s been pretty hard to miss the hype around the Six & Out comeback tour over the past few months so we’re delighted to be adding them to the long list of high-profile bands that have been part of the Carnival of Cups over the past 18 months,” HRNSW Marketing Manager Paul Cochrane said.
“The boys bring big energy to the stage and a lot of star power so it will be fantastic to bring them to Penrith and showcase what a great night at the harness racing is.”
On top of the band’s performance, Brett Lee will be utilising his social media platform of more than 11 million followers to help promote the Carnival of Cups experience.
“Brett is not just a wonderful athlete and talented musician but he is a terrific person who is idolised around the world and he has shown a genuine interest in helping showcase his Carnival of Cups adventures to his followers,” Mr Cochrane said.
“There is considerable excitement on both sides of the equation too. Six & Out are music tragics and jumped at the opportunity to hang out with and perform alongside Birds of Tokyo for a night. But equally, the Birds of Tokyo lads are big cricket fans and are also pretty pumped about how the cards have fallen on this one!”
The Carnival of Cups at Penrith Paceway is an all-ages community event. It is FREE to attend but patrons will need to register for a ticket to secure entry into the venue.
