Fresh off a driving double at King Island on Boxing Day, reinsman Dylan Ford hopes his good form can continue in Burnie on Friday night.

Ford takes the reins on the four-year-old mare, Done Well, in the Kevin Redpath North West Plate Final (2180m).

The mare, trained by Tammy Langley, goes into the race with two recent wins, the most recent being the heat held on 13 December.

“She had a few issues tying up, that’s why her form was a bit inconsistent, but we seem to have that down pat now.

“Out of the two heats, our heat had a few horses spin around (and cause a delay), and when she is settled, she will ping away, and she has seen the tape a couple more times at home since the heat, and I don’t think the standing start will be an issue this time around,” said Ford.

“I know she didn’t win too convincingly in Hobart (two starts ago), but she came on a bit after that win.

Ford expects the mare to perform well again on Friday.

“If they run hard, and she is there with a lap to go, she will be dangerous,” he said.

The meeting will also celebrate the 75th anniversary of the grandstand’s opening at the Wivenhoe venue.

Friday’s traditional north-west coast Christmas holiday meeting will be shown on Sky Racing 2. The first of eight races will start at 17:17.
