Race 1:

OVERVIEW: FEEL THE REIGN (2) gets into this race nicely with the aid of a concession claim and he is perfectly drawn to suit his racing pattern. He trailed the leader but was held up for momentum before the home turn when a creditable fifth behind Hello Possums at Shepparton last outing. NO EMOTION (5) continues to race in great form and must be included amongst the leading chances again. He came from last at the bell and sustained a long run out three horses wide when he won at Mildura then produced a big finish to win at Stawell last outing. HUNGRY HOGARTH (4) raced very fiercely on the outside of the leader in fast time and had excuses when ninth at Bendigo last outing. He was a winner at Mildura three starts ago and is worth another chance. CALYPSO MISTRESS (1) is suited to racing over the sprint distance and is capable of improving on her numerical form. OWEN THE SAINTS (6) was beaten by a long way at Mildura but his overall form is good enough to be competitive here.

BACK: FEEL THE REIGN (2) – 1.5 units (each way)

SELECTIONS: FEEL THE REIGN (2), NO EMOTION (5), HUNGRY HOGARTH (4), CALYPSO MISTRESS (1)

Race 2:

OVERVIEW: It is an evenly balanced field with many winning chances. YAPPER (2) commenced from the inside of the second line, was shuffled back on the markers and never gained a clear passage at any stage when he went to the line jogging at his latest unlucky seventh. He is racing better than his form reads and is worth an investment. LILSTREPO (5) endured a torrid trip in a mile rate of 1.53.3 last outing and her form prior was sound so she is worth another chance. TALLARAS SHADOW (4) appeared to have her chance at Bendigo on Wednesday night but she wasn’t beaten by far and the time was fast. She possesses a strong finishing burst and is worth a ticket each way. TO THE NINES (6) trailed the leader and used the sprint lane to win at Bendigo. He is not as well drawn now but he is versatile and warrants respect. EMILY VINCENT (7) is awkwardly drawn but she will appreciate a drop back in class for this assignment and her past two efforts have been encouraging. She settled midfield and finished fourth behind the in-form pacer Odin last outing.

SELECTIONS: YAPPER (2), LILSTREPO (5), TALLARAS SHADOW (4), TO THE NINES (6)

Race 3:

OVERVIEW: WALKIN UNDERSTARZ (6) was resuming since November when second behind Little Miss Valley at Shepparton. She is backing up quickly from her close second at Ballarat on Thursday night and she should prove hard to beat against this class. RYMES (8) is the interesting runner. He has a lot of ability but unfortunately his manners let him down and he gallops more often than he trots. This is a very suitable line up and he will take a lot of beating if he puts it altogether. CHRISTMAS BABE (4) has had a few chances recently but her brilliant gate speed is a big asset, particularly over the sprint distance so she should be in front for a long way. RASENGAN (5) trailed the leader and eventual winner Betsy Anne throughout when second under similar conditions at Bendigo on June 03 and is not without a chance.

BACK: WALKIN UNDERSTARZ (6) – 1.5 units (win)

SELECTIONS: WALKIN UNDERSTARZ (6), RYMES (8), CHRISTMAS BABE (4), RASENGAN (5)

Race 4:

OVERVIEW: ROCKIN CHARMER (2) showed very good gate speed to get across and lead from a wide draw at his latest second behind Shezabluechip. He should lead comfortably from his better alley here and is capable of going one better. DANCEBYTHESEASIDE (7) appeared to have every chance when third at Stawell last outing but he did well after racing on the outside of the leader throughout when a narrow third at Melton prior. He is widely drawn again but he should be competitive against this class. THE IRISHMAN (8) was held up for a run at a vital stage and was doing his best work at the end when fifth at Warragul last outing. He battled on well for second at Stawell prior and is not without a chance. BLUE OCEAN (1) is a grinding type that worked home reasonably well for fourth at Shepparton last outing and is a place possibility from the pole position.

SELECTIONS: ROCKIN CHARMER (2), DANCEBYTHESEASIDE (7), THE IRISHMAN (8), BLUE OCEAN (1)

Race 5:

OVERVIEW: WATCH YOUR BACK (3) is a former Queensland pacer, which led throughout to win at his local debut then followed with an unlucky third at Mildura, where he commenced from the inside of the second line and was held up for a run at a vital stage before finishing off well late. He should give a forward showing under these conditions. TREACHEROUSTIMES (2) led throughout in his recent victories at Kimore and Ballarat and endured a tough trip on a wet track at Kilmore last week so he warrants respect. SPORTING RAGE (1) dropped out and was beaten a long way as favourite last outing but he finished off well for second at Ballarat prior so he is worth another chance from the pole position. HUXHAM CHUBB (8) will appreciate a drop back in class for this assignment and is a possible improver. OUR PRINCESS DI (5) hasn’t been placed in eleven starts for the season but she was very heavily supported at Bendigo on Wednesday night and set up a hectic speed so she cannot be left out of calculations.

BACK: WATCH YOUR BACK (3) – 2 units (win)

SELECTIONS: WATCH YOUR BACK (3), TREACHEROUSTIMES (2), SPORTING RAGE (1), HUXHAM CHUBB (8)

Race 6:

OVERVIEW: MISSMALACHITE (7) is racing in career best form and deserves to break through for another win. She led throughout at Charlton on April 26, was beaten by a smart one in Happily two starts ago and powered home late for an eye-catching second at Stawell last time out. THE REGULATOR (9) was resuming since September when he was aggressively driven to find the lead early and battled on strongly behind Bond Girl at Geelong. He should strip fitter from that run and this race is no harder so he is capable of going one better. ATOMIC GLORY (4) led out then took cover when second behind Gallico at Warragul last week. He has been runner up against similar opposition three times recently and is worth thought again. SHEZABLUECHIP (6) sustained a good run to win at Shepparton last outing and has claims along with SALSBOY (10), which is capable of sprinting to the line quickly with the right trail forward.

BACK: MISSMALACHITE (7) – 2 units (win)

SELECTIONS: MISSMALACHITE (7), THE REGULATOR (9), ATOMIC GLORY (4), SHEZABLUECHIP (6)

Race 7:

OVERVIEW: LOOK AT HER (1) was runner up behind the smart juvenile filly Ideal Frankie at Bendigo then followed with a close second at Geelong after attempting to lead throughout. She is ideally drawn and is nearing her Maiden success. JUST LIKE NUGGET (4) looms as a danger. The only time he has missed a top four position at his past seven starts was when he sustained a flat tyre and he did well after being left stranded without cover at his latest second. EL LAZZAR (5) endured a wide trip in a strong race won by Treacherous Dan at Geelong last outing. He should continue to improve with the benefit of racing and will make his presence felt. ARUVAL (6) will appreciate a drop back in class for this assignment with her latest unplaced run being behind the smart pacer Rocknroll Wish in a sizzling mile rate of 1.52.8. She is versatile and is not to be underestimated.

SELECTIONS: LOOK AT HER (1), JUST LIKE NUGGET (4), EL LAZZAR (5), ARUVAL (6)
