Launceston, Friday 12 June

Race 1

VICTORY GEORGE (6) ran a brave third last start after making a mid-race move and battled on strongly in fast time. If he is able sit on speed and control the race to a moderate tempo over the mile, he may prove too good. BOULDER CITY (11) flashed home from the back to score last start and will be looking to do the same again here. EYE SEE AMOUR (13) has been hot and cold since arriving in the state, including last start when he broke early before making up good ground and having no luck in the run to the line. The outside back row draw makes things difficult, but his talent is hard to deny if he brings his best. DOLCE DRAMA (9) loomed up to win last start before tiring late and should take improvement from that effort. DEFENCE ATTORNEY (5), MY BAD (1) and TOUGH FIGHTER (2) all draw favourably and should settle on speed to give themselves every chance of earning a cheque.

Selections: VICTORY GEORGE (6), BOULDER CITY (11), EYE SEE AMOUR (13), DOLCE DRAMA (9)

Race 2

A full field assembles for the low-class race of the night over the mile, where the speed map is difficult to assess with an even spread of gate speed across the front row. GEE YOUNG (3) will be looking to cross to the pegs and was a nice winner two starts back. EMER (6) has been consistent of late, including a second placing last start when she appeared to have every chance after securing a good run behind the leader, though the awkward draw makes things tougher here. STAROFREMEMBRANCE (11) and GOBSMACKED (12) are always capable of charging home strongly if the tempo is genuine. FIVE STAR SHARK (8), COLBY ART (9) and WINSUM BELLA (1) all look set to enjoy favourable runs in transit and should be figuring in the finish.

Selections: GEE YOUNG (3), EMER (6), STAROFREMEMBRANCE (11), GOBSMACKED (12)

Race 3

CHEYS ANGEL (1) arrives back in the state after some handy performances in good time in Victoria. She uses the mares claim to gain entry into this very even field and from the pole draw, would be expected to attempt an all-the-way victory. ALL ABOUT SADIE (3) has finished runner-up at her past two starts since returning from a lengthy spell and should be nearing peak fitness now. She looks set to find a nice position on speed and give herself every chance. LOYOLA TRIOS (9) and KING VANCE (7) both use the junior driver claims to drop back into this grade and should be well suited, though they will require some luck from their respective draws. KENYA (2) should appreciate the handy barrier and it would not surprise to see him return to form with a cosy run on speed.

Selections: CHEYS ANGEL (1), ALL ABOUT SADIE (3), KING VANCE (7), LOYOLA TRIOS (9)

Race 4

KING BART (2) resumes after a short let-up and should possess enough gate speed to cross to the pegs and give himself every chance to add another victory to his record. ROCK AMOUR (5) and SPORT WATCHER (6) have been consistently earning cheques in this grade and both possess enough gate speed to be used from their awkward draws, especially with only a moderate tempo expected through the middle stages. The back row runners FANCY ANOTHER (8) and PHLOW JO (9) both have the talent to take this race out and should enjoy suitable runs in transit, allowing them to be charging home late.

Selections: KING BART (2), FANCY ANOTHER (8), PHLOW JO (9), ROCK AMOUR (5)

Race 5

BANJO STAR (5) won comfortably on debut last November. He appears to have returned in good order following a nice trial win at Melton early last week and would expect him to be driven positively here. ASTORMZABREWEN (2) and GEMMY LOU (3) both possess good gate speed and should head forward early, where they can again give a good sight and look to fill the placings. TISU SUNNY (6) has been thereabouts since breaking his maiden three starts back and should be running home strongly if he settles kindly throughout.

Selections: BANJO STAR (5), ASTORMZABREWEN (2), GEMMY LOU (3) TISU SUNNY (6)

Race 6

Could be a very fast first quarter here over the mile, with REPETITIVE (1), OH NO NEVER AGAIN (3) and KARALTA ARTEMIS (4) all blessed with sharp gate speed. If they go as hard as expected early, that will suit SHOOBEES SPIRIT (2), who was not suited when caught in the death last start after a handy second first up from a break. It would also suit OLLIES IDEAL (7), who can easily win this if he brings his best manners, as can ONEHANDONEBOUNCE (8), who gained a deserved victory last start after several good efforts where he had done things wrong. TOLD YOU TWICE (6) continues to go down through the grades and has not been far away in stronger company than this. He should be running home strongly and could be the value runner of the race.

Selections: SHOOBEES SPIRIT (2), OLLIES IDEAL (7), ONEHANDONEBOUNCE (8), TOLD YOU TWICE (6)
