Form Analysis by Bronte Nieuwenburg

Race 1:

OVERVIEW: PARIS JAMILLA (5) has always shown promise of being a nice mare throughout her career, and she looks to be back close to her best form since joining the Jamie Egan stable five starts ago. She was eye-catching in the way she hit the line to win last start. BLACKRANGE GLORY (13) can get his manners wrong early, which is why he has the sticky ODM barrier here. However, he is a very talented horse when he puts it all together. His class shows, as he has the best sectional times in this event. THE ITALIAN DREAM (8) was dazzling in the way she flashed home to win first up last start. She will improve from the run, but will need luck from the barrier. SHINELIKETHESUN (6) has shown promise that she is a quality horse this year, but just seems not to have put it all together yet. She was tough last start and looks ready to win. A runner also worth noting is BODYBUILDER (1), who is first up in Victoria and first up in 619 days for top trainer Isabel Walsh. He will need to improve on his form from two years ago to feature here. Also respecting CARTACALHA (7) and ATIGAS (11) here just question marks where they are at.

SELECTIONS: PARIS JAMILLA (5), BLACKRANGE GLORY (13), THE ITALIAN DREAM (8), SHINELIKETHESUN (6)

Race 2:

OVERVIEW: This looks to be another competitive trot on the card. JAYS ALL THAT (5) has either been unlucky or galloped in his last three starts. His run prior at Cranbourne was a win. On times, he is the best swooper in this race and will be best saved for one run. WATCH AND ACT (2) is a competitive gelding stepping out for the 136th time. He has the gate speed to find the fence here and, with luck, is a good first four chance. KYVALLEY JAGGER (6) was a strong winner three starts back at Bendigo. The following start he hit the line well but had no luck, and last start he galloped. If he gets luck here, he is a chance. BULLAPARK BENO (8) has notably the best sectional times in this event. He was a good winner last start when doing it tough at Kilmore. His barrier looks awkward here, as he may get stuck on the fence.

SELECTIONS: JAYS ALL THAT (5), WATCH AND ACT (2), KYVALLEY JAGGER (6) BULLAPARK BENO (8)

Race 3:

OVERVIEW: LESTER (9) is having his 100th career start here. He didn’t look to be at his best last start when doing it tough on a wet track. However, he won well the start prior when saved for one run. From barrier nine, he can follow through at the start, get a good run and be flashing home late. METRO MEMORY (8) is a horse that can bob up, sometimes when you least expect it. Not a runner to leave out. On paper he finished last start, but he had no luck and couldn’t get a run late. He performs well when saved for one run, which is likely here. KORENGAL VALLEY (6) and MADAM REACTOR (4) don’t look to be performing at their best currently. However, they’re horses that could capitalise on luck in running if they get good trips here. WHITEHAVEN BEACH (3) is also a good rough chance if it has luck.

SELECTIONS: LESTER (9), METRO MEMORY (8), KORENGAL VALLEY (6), MADAM REACTOR (4)

Race 4:

OVERVIEW: This is another competitive trot on the card. JESSICAS STORY (1) looks ready to get back into the winners’ circle. She has been performing competitively and has hit the line well in her last two starts from the same barrier after getting good fence line trips. LITTLE TEDDY (8) has been in great form this preparation, with three starts for a win, a second and a third. He won from three back on the fence from the same barrier three starts ago, getting off the fence late and storming home. It looks to be a similar map here, but this is a step up in class from that victory. MADGE EGAN (2) and TENSION SEEKER (3) should be able to map forward here in the running line. If they get luck in running, they will be flashing home.

BACK: JESSICAS STORY (1) – 2 units (win)

SELECTIONS: JESSICAS STORY (1), LITTLE TEDEY (8), MADGE EGAN (2), TENSION SEEKER (3)

Race 5:

OVERVIEW: MATISOFF (5) is having his second career start here. Prior to his debut, he had many trials since 2024. At his debut earlier this month, he was three back on the fence at Shepparton, but hit the line well for second in a similar field to this one. He will improve from that run and looks well placed here. ALDEBARAN MIGUEL (4) has had the one career start where he led throughout and just got a bit tired late to finish fourth. He has good gate speed and will improve from that run. MORNING DOVE (9) has the best sectional times in this field. However, she has got her manners wrong in her last two starts. If she can trot throughout and settle in a good position from barrier nine, she could be flashing home late. DALAHESTEN (6) has had four career starts and was first up in Victoria last start. Two of his starts came in the Gold Coronet (Listed Classic) series at Bathurst against the best horses in his age group in the country, so this looks a more suitable grade for him.

BACK: MATISOFF (5) – 2 units (win)

SELECTIONS: MATISOFF (5), ALDEBARAN MIGUEL (4), MORNING DOVE (9), DALAHESTEN (6)

Race 6:

OVERVIEW: WHERES WOOD WOOD (3) was an eye-catching winner last start when flashing home. She has great gate speed and should be able to find the front here. From there, she has options and finds a good race to go back-to-back. MISS HERMES (4) was second last start in the race won by WHERES WOOD WOOD (3). She did it tough throughout and was only beaten late. She is the type of horse that can make her own luck. TEX GOES BANG (8) is the only horse on the second line, so has options here. He has been in great form recently, with a win and two seconds in his last three starts. He should get a good run. HESTON CASH (2) has been out of the winners’ circle for a few years, but he has been racing okay. If he gets into a good position, he is a first four chance.

BACK: WHERES WOOD WOOD (3) – 3 units (win)

SELECTIONS: WHERES WOOD WOOD (3), MISS HERMES (4), TEX GOES BANG (8), HESTON CASH (2)

Race 7:

OVERVIEW: POPPY POPSTAR (5) is in career-best form, finishing in the top three in her previous six starts. She will need to make her own luck from the barrier, but she is good enough to do that. MACHO MAORI (3) has great gate speed and should be able to get into a good position here. With luck, he is a good first four chance. LOUIEVILLE LASS (4) has the best sectional times in this field, especially her last 800m. If she gets a good run, she can be flashing home. ALLWATFUNJINGLES (8) is racing well and is the only horse on the second line, so has time and space to settle early. He did it tough last start and still battled on well. He can make his own luck.

BACK: POPPY POPSTAR (5) – 3 units (win)

SELECTIONS: POPPY POPSTAR (5), MACHO MAORI (3), LOUIEVILLE LASS (4), ALLWATFUNJINGLES (8)

Race 8:

OVERVIEW: MATRIARCH DAISY (5) has had three career starts, with seconds in her last two runs. She has shown promise and, if she gets a good run here, will be looking to break through for her maiden victory. SOHO AMARYLLIS (1) is third up this year. Last start, she settled last in a big field on a wet track at Shepparton and stormed home. From barrier one, she should get a good trip if she can show enough gate speed to hold a forward enough position. BETTING ATTACK (2) has had only three career starts, but has had manners issues in each of them. If he gets his manners right, he is a chance here. JUST LIKE NUGGET (6) has been racing well recently, but has an awkward barrier. He has good speed if saved for one run.

SELECTIONS: MATRIARCH DAISY (5), SOHO AMARYLLIS (1), BETTING ATTACK (2), JUST LIKE NUGGET (6)
