Form Analysis by Craig Rail

Race 1:
OVERVIEW: LITTLE WONDER (4) led out then took cover and finished second behind Jacquelyn Joy in a stronger race at Bendigo three starts ago. She is making her debut for trainer Alex Ashwood and possesses good early speed so she appears to be the horse to beat. NOCOMMENT (1) has attempted to lead throughout and has finished in second at his past three attempts. He only missed out by a nose margin last week and he should give another bold showing. BLISSFULL RED (3) attempted to lead throughout when fourth behind Xlendi Star two starts ago then followed with a third behind Don Crunch last week after enjoying the perfect trip. She has shown improvement recently and is capable of filling a place again. MINI VINNEY (2) struck trouble and had excuses when fifth behind Tryagainfreddy last week. He gets his chance to improve under these conditions.
BACK: LITTLE WONDER (4) – 3 units (win)
SELECTIONS: LITTLE WONDER (4), NOCOMMENT (1), BLISSFULL RED (3), MINNI VINNEY (2)
Race 2:
OVERVIEW: BETTORBUST (1) is a first starter for trainer Alex Ashwood, which performed just as well as his stablemate Boystrous at a recent Bendigo trial in a slick mile rate of 1.57.4 so he appears to have a promising future. Considering Boystrous produced a big debut victory since that trial, BETTORBUST (1) should prove extremely hard to beat from the pole position. HIGHWAY HUSTLER (3) is a South Australian trained pacer, which has been runner up in two recent trial performances, the latest being at Globe Derby. She is meeting a smart juvenile colt in BETTORBUST (1) for her debut performance but she should be competitive. SOHO AMARYLLIS (2) is first up without heading to the trials but she is ideally drawn and strikes a reasonable field so she is a definite place chance. POSTER ART (4) produced a sharper effort at her second attempt at the races last week and is worth thought in multiple combinations.
BACK: BETTORBUST (1) – 3 units (win)
SELECTIONS: BETTORBUST (1), HIGHWAY HUSTLER (3), SOHO AMARYLLIS (2), POSTER ART (4)
Race 3:
OVERVIEW: MY ULTIMATE JIMMY (6) boasts an excellent record at Mildura and led throughout to win a heat of the Mildura Cup two starts ago. He attempted to lead throughout over the 2600m in the Final of that event and peaked late but he is much better suited under these conditions and is a big chance of bouncing back into winning form. BIZZNESS CLASS (8) broke stride in the early stages and gave away a big start when a terrific third behind JAXON BEACH (5) on Mildura Cup night then was unsuited in a slowly run race (26.1 last 1/4!) at Metropolitan level on Saturday night. He is racing in good form and must be respected. DALLAS MIKI (7) is facing a big rise in class on his latest performances but he has been running fast times and has never raced better. He endured a torrid trip and was still able to get the money in a mile rate of 1.56.8 last outing so he cannot be underestimated. PRIORITISE (3) and JAXON BEACH (5) are both capable of showing up without surprising.
SELECTIONS: MY ULTIMATE JIMMY (6), BIZZNESS CLASS (8), DALLAS MIKI (7), JAXON BEACH (5)
Race 4:
OVERVIEW: LILSTREPO (5) drew on the second line, was shuffled back on the markers mid-race and was held up for a run at a vital stage when an unlucky fourth at Bendigo behind the undefeated pacer Keayang Renegade in a mile rate of 1.52.7 last week. She is undefeated in three starts at Mildura and is clearly the horse to beat again. ROYAL APPOINTMENT (8) also competed in the race won by Keayang Renegade at Bendigo and didn’t have a great deal of room in the straight. He missed out at his only attempt at Mildura previously but he is a very fast pacer and will take holding out in the run to the finish. RIO ROCK (7) performed nicely at the trials then followed with a handy finishing third behind Cemetery Bay in the open class event last week. Her last run was encouraging and she rates as a knockout chance. KEAYANG MOROCCAN (6) and CAULONIA TERROR (9) are both worth thought in multiple combinations.
BACK: LILSTREPO (5) – 2 units (win)
SELECTIONS: LILSTEPO (5), ROYAL APPOINTMENT (8), RIO ROCK (7), CAULONIA TERROR (9)
Race 5:
OVERVIEW: EARS THE BOSS (8) performs best when he is able to lead so being drawn on the second line is a disadvantage but he was very impressive at his Mildura debut last week, where he beat a field of similar standard by fourteen metres. He does follow behind a reasonable beginner so should receive a good trip and a repeat performance will see him being very competitive here. GRENADE (11) is another pacer, which performs best when close to the speed but is racing too well to dismiss. He has been placed in four of his past five starts and this race is no harder. THE TOOTH FAIRY (1) is perfectly drawn to suit her racing pattern and should be in front for a long way. She ran a sharper race when second behind Rocking Wroxton last time out. PUNTO CALIENTE (4) didn’t have much luck last week after having a wide trip in the early stages of the event. He should be nearing his peak after having two starts back from a break and he should run his usual honest race.
SELECTIONS: EARS THE BOSS (8), GRENADE (11), THE TOOTH FAIRY (1), PUNTO CALIENTE (4)
Race 6:
OVERVIEW: RUBBLEONTHEDOUBLE (1) ran a terrific race last week when he settled down in last position and sustained a long run out three horses wide from the bell. He ended up being in second position behind Ears The Boss so the performance of that pacer in race five might be a good lead into his chances in this event. G B BRAVE (7) is yet to miss a place in four starts at Mildura and has the perfect trailing draw behind RUBBLEONTHEDOUBLE (1). He worked to the front and scored comfortably two starts ago then did very well after sustaining a flat tyre last week. MAGGACIS (4) put together three impressive victories in succession prior to the Mildura Cup Carnival, where he finished fourth in a heat then seventh in the final of the Club Merbein series behind the Emma Stewart prepared The Art of Success. He is a tough type and might be able to find this to be more suitable so it would be no surprise to see him return to winning form. ROCKNROLL YANKEE (9) is a handy South Australian pacer, which boasts twenty career wins. He led throughout at his latest Globe Derby victory and is worth thought despite dropping back to the second row now.
BACK: RUBBLEONTHEDOUBLE (1) – 1 unit (each way)
SELECTIONS: RUBBLEONTHEDOUBLE (1), G B BRAVE (7), MAGGACIS (4), ROCKNROLL YANKEE (9)
Race 7:
OVERVIEW: TO THE NINES (11) will appreciate a significant drop back in class for this assignment and is strong enough to overcome the poor draw. He chased hard from the second half of the field when a big second behind the in-form pacer Dallas Miki at his latest second in a sizzling mile rate of 1.56.8. NEVS DREAM (5) is racing in career best form having won at her past four attempts and is the logical danger. She continues to step up in class but she showed terrific gate speed to lead from a similar draw last week and dominated her rivals in the run to the finish. RONZEL MICKY (1) commenced from the inside of the second line, was held up for a run at a vital stage and finished off solidly when third at Mildura last week. She continues to build on her consistent record and is worth thought again. WILLIAMS (3) has been safely held at his two starts since resuming but he gets into this race nicely with a concession claim and has performed well at Mildura previously so an improved effort would not surprise.
SELECTIONS: TO THE NINES (11), NEVS DREAM (5), RONZEL MICKY (1), WILLIAMS (3)
