Form Analysis by Craig Rail

Race 1:
OVERVIEW: BETATHANABOUGHTONE (1) produced a big finish from midfield to win clearly over Chogi (won since) two starts ago then struck bother at the start and had no luck last outing. She is ideally drawn and is a chance of bouncing back into winning form. MISS PIGGY WIGGY (8) has the perfect trailing draw behind BETATHANABOUGHTONE (1) and is racing consistently. She attempted to make a long run from the 700m when a game second behind Regal Rock at Kilmore last week. FOREGONE CONCLUSION (7) was driven aggressively to find the lead and was run down late when a brave second at Charlton. He took on much harder opposition when sixth at Kilmore last outing and is worth another chance. VINCHESKA (3) possesses early speed and is racing consistently. She is worth thought along with DOUBLE THE HUNTER (9).
Race 2:
OVERVIEW: It is a tough race to assess with four last start winners engaged. PRICILLA (5) won at big odds when on debut but she recorded fast time and scored comfortably so she appears to be capable of taking the next step forward. BIGBASHASH (8) also won impressively at her debut performance. She is awkwardly drawn but she is nicely bred and has shown from her debut performance and from the trials that she has the ability to feature prominently against this class. WAZOWSKI (3) is a strong type and continues to build up a consistent record. She will appreciate her best draw for some time and should be prominent throughout. ALWAYS A SHOWGIRL (6) gained a trail into the race out three horses wide from the 700m when a handy second at Maryborough then scored the following day at Kilmore after working forward to find the lead shortly after the start. She is racing in good form and is worth thought again. CHOGI (7) is a speedy mare and bounced back into winning form when she scored at Stawell last outing. She is widely drawn but is worth an investment.
SELECTIONS: PRICILLA (5), BIGBASHASH (8), WAZOWSKI (3), ALWAYS A SHOWGIRL (6)
Race 3:
OVERVIEW: MAC FLICK (6) progressed forward to find a forward position and overcame a tough trip when she defeated ABBIE (2) in a slick mile rate of 1.56.1 last time out. This race is a bit tougher but she looms as one of the leading chances again. KEAYANG GYPSY (4) attempted to lead throughout and was beaten on the post when second behind Charleston Avenue at Maryborough. She commenced from the second line and overcame a tough run to win three starts ago and should give a forward showing from her good draw here. RUBYS DREAM (7) should be at her peak form after having three starts back from a break. She commenced from the handicap of 20m, pushed forward to find the lead mid-race and held on to win at Maryborough last outing. She boasts a strong record and must be considered as a winning chance again. ALDEBARAN BROOKE (8) appears to be very well graded in this event but will need luck from the inside of the second line. She didn’t have much room in the straight when an unlucky fifth behind Quirky Character at her latest attempt.
BACK: MAC FLICK (6) – 1.5 units (each way)
SELECTIONS: MAC FLICK (6), KEAYANG GYPSY (4), RUBYS DREAM (7), ALDEBARAN BROOKE (8)
Race 4:
OVERVIEW: WICKED WIZARD (2) is resuming since a fourth in the Western Region series at Wagga on December 05. He worked home well for third at a Cobram trial effort behind Aussie Jay Mac last week and is drawn to give a bold showing. FLYING SPARKS (5) sustained a flat tyre and failed to finish at his latest attempt. He hit the line strongly at his previous two placed efforts and he recorded handy time at a Bacchus Marsh trial victory on Saturday so he must be considered as one of the leading chances. ARE WEASLEY (9) left a trailing position to move up without cover when a brave third behind REGAL ROCK (4) at Kilmore. He is racing in good form and is worth an investment. YANKEE CAPTAIN (7) has been safely held at his past two attempts but he will appreciate a drop back in class and is capable of showing improvement.
SELECTIONS: WICKED WIZARD (2), FLYING SPARKS (5), ARE WEASLEY (9), YANKEE CAPTAIN (7)
Race 5:
OVERVIEW: ATUA MAGIC (2) is a classy 3yo colt, which appears to have a promising campaign ahead. He took on a top field and battled on bravely for third in the Leeton Breeders Plate when resuming and he is much better drawn for this assignment. LEWIELEWIS (1) produced a big performance when he overcame a wide trip to win at Terang then had no clear run when an unlucky seventh at Mildura last week. He is a versatile pacer and should make his presence felt from the pole position. INTRUSION (10) was held up for a run and appeared to have plenty in reserve when unplaced behind Timbimboo at Melton last week. He scored over Lilstrepo (won since) at Shepparton three starts ago and has performed well since coming from New South Wales. SERENE ROCK (8) follows behind LEWIELEWIS (1) at the start and should gain an economical on the markers so he rates as a value hope.
BACK: ATUA MAGIC (2) – 3 units (win)
SELECTIONS: ATUA MAGIC (2), LEWIELEWIS (1), INTRUSION (10), SERENE ROCK (8)
Race 6:
OVERVIEW: THE DARK THUNDER (3) is resuming since an eighth at Melton in the Breeders Crown on December 13. He will strip fitter after a comfortable Bendigo trial victory last week and he should give a forward showing first up. WAIKARE ADRIENNA (11) did a very good job after making an early error when seventh at Metropolitan level two starts ago then held her own in the straight when fifth behind Mac Flick at Bendigo. This race is much easier and she should be hitting the line strongly. KYVALLEY JETSTREAM (8) ran a game second behind the in-form trotter Quirky Character then followed with a handy finishing third behind Antonov. He is awkwardly drawn but is racing well enough to figure in the finish. PRETTYBOY HARRY (7) was resuming since December 02 when he was very wide on the home turn and finished off well for fifth at Kilmore. He should be fitter after that performance and is worth a ticket each way.
BACK: THE DARK THUNDER (3) – 2 units (win)
SELECTIONS: THE DARK THUNDER (3), WAIKARE ADRIENNA (11), KYVALLEY JETSTREAM (8), PRETTYBOY HARRY (7)
Race 7:
OVERVIEW: SKY LINDY (7) has struck peak form with two runaway successes, the latest when he led throughout, and he is a good chance of completing a hat trick despite meeting a field of greater depth. THE SKY IS THE LIMIT (10) will appreciate a significant drop back in class for this assignment and should be competitive. She led out then took cover when third at Ballarat then followed with a close up fourth behind Mac Flick in fast time. MANDA KYVALLEY (5) continues to race in great form despite a horror run with the barrier draw. She endured a tough run and battled on well for second behind Fremarks Peggy at Maryborough last week and looms as one of the leading chances again. SUZYS DREAM (2) has been placed at her past four attempts and finished off well for an eye-catching third behind Beautiful Sunrise last week. She should run her usual honest race from her good draw. The former Queensland trotter AHUNDREDPLUS (9) was placed at a Bacchus Marsh trial effort on Saturday and must be kept safe.
SELECTIONS: SKY LINDY (7), THE SKY IS THE LIMIT (10), MANDA KYVALLEY (5), SUZYS DREAM (2)
Race 8:
OVERVIEW: ANIMADO (1) finished off nicely for an eye-catching second behind Interpretation two starts ago. He didn’t run home as expected when seventh ($2-30 fav) last outing but he is much better drawn and is worth another chance. YA BOTTOM DOLLAR (8) gained a nice trail and finished off best to defeat LORIMERMAJOR (12) at Shepparton two starts ago. He hasn’t raced since a third back in June but he finished a close second at a Bendigo trial effort last week and he is drawn to receive an economical run on the markers so he is worth thought. SPIRIT OF SAHARA (3) finished off quickly when a game third behind Monsieur Flamel at Kilmore last week. He is a speedy type and has been placed in three of his past four starts so he is worth an investment. FEEL THE REIGN (11) and LORIMERMAJOR (12) are both racing well enough to figure in the finish in an open race to end the program.
BACK: ANIMADO (1) – 1 unit (each way)
SELECTIONS: ANIMADO (1), YA BOTTOM DOLLAR (8), SPIRIT OF SAHARA (3), LORIMERMAJOR (12)
