Form Analysis by Craig Rail
Race 1:
OVERVIEW: WHATTA YA UP TAA (2) is a fast beginner and attempted to lead throughout when second (nose) behind Orsino Belle at Echuca last outing. He is drawn to find the lead again and is capable of going one better. IMA TIGGY TIGER (7) settled in a rearward position on the markers, was held up for a run at a vital stage and finished off quickly for an eye-catching third at Maryborough. She has a few gait issues and this is her Mildura debut but she has the ability to show up prominently if she delivers a fool proof display. GENERAL ROCKER (5) is a first starter for trainer Peter Bain, which won a trial at Gawler recently by thirty metres so he must be kept safe. WHENIMREADY (3) and BETTERBWATCHING (4) are both capable of showing up without surprising.
EARLY SPEED: 2 (likely leader), 3
SELECTIONS: WHATTA YA UP TAA (2), IMA TIGGY TIGER (7), GENERAL ROCKER (5), BETTERBWATCHING (4)
RATINGS: 2,7/ 5/ 3,4
SUGGESTED BET: WHATTA YA UP TAA (2) to win
Race 2:
OVERVIEW: SOLVE THE CRIME (1) is a New South Wales trained pacer, which finished second at Wagga last outing. The last time he drew on the pole position, he galloped away but he is a chance against this opposition if he can hold a forward position in the early stages of the event. ROCKNROLL LENNY (5) is a former South Australian pacer, which joins trainer Boris Devcic. He recorded a mile rate of 1.58.9 at his latest success so he should be competitive under these conditions. CORNELIA (7) was prominent early before being shuffled back in the field mid-race when a creditable fifth behind Robert Crocka on Friday. He won at Mildura prior and is worth thought again. BETTOR DOO (4) trailed the leader, was forced to switch course in the home straight to gain a clear passage and finished off well for second at Mildura on Friday. This race is of similar standard so he cannot be left out of calculations.
EARLY SPEED: 1 (likely leader), 3,5
SELECTIONS: SOLVE THE CRIME (1), ROCKNROLL LENNY (5), CORNELIA (7), BETTOR DOO (4)
RATINGS: 1,5/ 7/ 4/ 8
SUGGESTED BET: SOLVE THE CRIME (1) to win
Race 3:
OVERVIEW: AVOCA BLUES (5) has put in some tremendous performances at Mildura recently and deserves to break through for a win. He attempted to lead throughout in a sizzling mile rate of 1.54.9 when a brave second behind the classy pacer My Ultimate Jimmy on September 19. CARLISLE CRUISER (3) was able to lead throughout at Mildura two starts ago then didn’t have much luck after commencing from the second line on Friday. He should give a forward showing under these conditions. KEAYANG SHADOWBOX (6) has been racing in peak form having won three of his past five starts. He made a mid-race move to get up without cover and was impressive at his latest performance so he must be considered as a winning chance again. THE MAHARANI (4) has ability when she is able to put it altogether but she lacks recent racing. She is first up and without a trial but she must be kept safe.
EARLY SPEED: 3 (possible leader), 3,5
SELECTIONS: AVOCA BLUES (5), CARLISLE CRUISER (3), KEAYANG SHADOWBOX (6), THE MAHARANI (4)
RATINGS: 5/ 3,6/ 4/ 2,7
SUGGESTED BET: AVOCA BLUES (5) each way
Race 4:
OVERVIEW: WIPEOUT (1) produced a big performance when fourth behind My Ultimate Jimmy in a mile rate of 1.54.9 at his Mildura debut. He won a trial in fast time prior and he should give a bold showing from the pole position. RIO ROCK (6) is racing consistently and is worth an investment. She found the front but raced greenly and ended up in fourth on the first turn when a handy third two starts ago then finished off well for fourth (dead-heating with WIPEOUT (1)) last week. POWERSOFPERSUASION (7) is better than his form reads and he has the perfect trailing draw behind WIPEOUT (1) so he rates as a value hope. ALL DA RAGE (8) has been freshened since his latest Mildura tenth. He was placed in a Metropolitan event at Melton prior and he is the class runner of the field so he is sure to be strongly fancied.
EARLY SPEED: 1 (likely leader), 4,6
SELECTIONS: WIPEOUT (1), RIO ROCK (6), POWERSOFPERSUASION (7), ALL DA RAGE (8)
RATINGS: 1/ 6,7,8/ 3
SUGGESTED BET: WIPEOUT (1) each way
Race 5:
OVERVIEW: ORSINO BELLE (8) led out then took cover and got up to win on the line at Echuca then followed with a second at Shepparton in a mile rate of 1.58.4. She is racing well and should prove hard to beat at her Mildura debut. ALOHA PRINCESS (5) is a South Australian trained filly that produced a dominant performance to win clearly at Globe Derby on debut. She was put away after that performance and will be fitter after a second at a Gawler trial effort so she must be respected. BERSAGLIERE (6) followed a Globe Derby victory with a fifth at Mildura, where he finished off well from a rearward position. He is widely drawn but is not without a chance. NODINI (3) and RONZEL RAFA (9) both have enough ability to warrant consideration.
EARLY SPEED: 3 (possible leader), 4,5
SELECTIONS: ORSINO BELLE (8), ALOHA PRINCESS (5), BERSAGLIERE (6), NODINI (3)
RATINGS: 5,8/ 6/ 3,9
SUGGESTED BET: ORSINO BELLE (8) to win
Race 6:
OVERVIEW: STYLISTIK (10) was placed in a handy mile rate of 1.57.6 at Charlton three starts ago and finished fifth behind the smart pacer Romeo at Cranbourne on November 16. He will find this race to be much easier and is worth an investment. DESTINY KEPT (6) gained the perfect trip behind the eventual winner Hellava Deal and tried hard for second on Friday. She won a trial at Mildura a few days prior and this race is no harder so she looms as one of the leading chances. ALLGOOD VINNIE (1) attempted to lead throughout when a distant third in the same race won by Hellava Deal last week. He is working into some form and should be in front for a long way. LIVELY JOE (9) pressured the leader throughout and did well for second behind Noels Gift last week. He is a maiden from 20 starts but his last run was encouraging.
EARLY SPEED: 1 (likely leader), 2
SELECTIONS: STYLISTIK (10), DESTINY KEPT (6), ALLGOOD VINNIE (1), LIVELY JOE (9)
RATINGS: 6,10/ 1,9/ 8
SUGGESTED BET: STYLISTIK (10) to win
Race 7:
OVERVIEW: CHOGI (1) returned from Tasmania with a dominant all of the way victory at Mildura then followed with a third at Shepparton. She is perfectly drawn to suit her racing pattern and she tends to perform best at Mildura so she must be respected. ANGELS WATCHING (7) sustained a flat tyre and failed to finish last week. He ran a game second behind Carlisle Cruiser prior and he has the perfect trailing draw so he rates as a value hope. COTCHINELLIE (9) will appreciate a significant drop back in class for this assignment and should go well. AMERICAN BOXER (2) and LOYOLA SPIAGGIA (3) are both fast beginners and are capable of showing up over the sprint distance.
EARLY SPEED: 1 (likely leader), 2,3
SELECTIONS: CHOGI (1), ANGELS WATCHING (7), COTCHINELLIE (9), LOYOLA SPIAGGIA (3)
RATINGS: 1/ 7,9/ 2,3/ 6
SUGGESTED BET: Trifecta 1,7,9/ 1,7,9/ 1,2,3,7,9 (Cost $18)
Race 8:
OVERVIEW: APOLOGY ACCEPTED (10) is racing in good form and deserves to break through for a win. He finished off nicely from a rearward position and did well for third behind ROBERT CROCKA (3) on Friday. ROBERT CROCKA (3) led throughout to score at Mildura last week. He tends to perform best over the sprint distance but he is worth thought again from his good draw. GRENADE (7) raced without cover and never really seemed to be travelling well but kept on fighting when third behind Ronzel Sonny last week. He is awkwardly drawn but has the ability to figure in the finish. ROCKING WROXTON (2) began fast from a wide draw to find the front and ran his best race for some time when second on Friday afternoon. He is drawn to gain a prominent position again and is not without a chance.
EARLY SPEED: 2 (possible leader), 3
SELECTIONS: APOLOGY ACCEPTED (10), ROBERT CROCKA (3), GRENADE (7), ROCKING WROXTON (2)
RATINGS: 3,10/ 7/ 2/ 1,6,11
SUGGESTED BET: APOLOGY ACCEPTED (10) each way
Race 9:
OVERVIEW: CHEERS POVERTY (4) showed good gate speed to lead, ran along at a genuine tempo and proved to be too strong at Mildura last outing. This is a race of similar standard and he is a good chance of finding the lead again so he must be respected. RONZEL MICKY (5) is a speedy mare and hasn’t finished further back than fourth at her past nine attempts. She began quickly to find a reasonable position from the outside of the second line then tried to sustain a long run when a close second behind Robert Crocka last week. She should run her usual honest race. HESASTAR (3) moved up without cover and battled on well for third last week. He is versatile and is worth a ticket each way. OUR MASTER PLAY (2) is resuming since August but he attempted to lead throughout when a close second at a Mildura trial effort last week so he is not without a chance.
EARLY SPEED: 4 (possible leader),2,5,6
SELECTIONS: CHEERS POVERTY (4), RONZEL MICKY (5), HESASTAR (3), OUR MASTER PLAY (2)
RATINGS: 4,5/ 3/ 2/ 1,6,8
SUGGESTED BET: CHEERS POVERTY (4) to win
