Form Analysis by Darren Clayton
RACE ONE
TE RAPA (6) came off a 20m impost last time out and forced to do it tough over the closing stages was the best of the chasers as HAMMER SON pulled clear to a big win. Not suited when taking on pacers the start prior, the small field here should be ideal.
SON OF A SUN (5) was faced with a second line gate last time out and eased to the fence to find position. Running on late for a midfield finish, the start prior he led them up from the tapes to hold 2nd behind SHEZA CHANCE. Timing the start right, he can issue a challenge in this line up.
DARCYS FIREBALL (4) was hitting the line in good order behind the pacers two starts back and then last time out at Marburg, made errors on the tight track which ended his chances. He is right in the fight.
SELECTIONS: TE RAPA (6), SON OF A SUN (5), DARCYS FIREBALL (4)
SUGGESTED BET:
RACE TWO
A model of consistency this season but finding a breakthrough elusive, DOWN SOUTH DAISY (10) has hit the board in seven of 10 appearances. Forced to do it tough on Sunday at Marburg when facing the breeze, she should take benefit from that run where she was fresh.
CASCATA (11) did not have anything go her way last start at Marburg when trailing the field home. That followed a forget performance when messing the start and never a factor. Assessing her chances on her 2nd here three starts back, from 10m she is up to challenging.
DOLLYS DUKE (8) found conditions to break through for his first victory when making the closing shot a winning one on the leader MAROON BELLS last time out. He can look to build off that.
MAROON BELLS (6) chalked up another minor placing on Sunday at the Marburg all trot day when collared in the last strides. Placed in three of her past five, she can be thereabouts again.
SELECTIONS: DOWN SOUTH DAISY (10), CASCATA (11), DOLLYS DUKE (8), MAROON BELLS (6)
SUGGESTED BET: DOWN SOUTH DAISY (10) to win
RACE THREE
Eased off the arm last start, BEYOND DOUBT (5) was never able to get warm as THE RASCAL blitzed the mile with a 54.5 closing half from the front. Arriving in time from a second line gate here two starts back, he finds the conditions to bounce back with the W.
MARDIBRINGSAPARTY (3) fired out from gate six last start before taking cover when THE RASCAL came calling. With the benefit of the trail, she was best of the chasers to hold down the silver. A beaten fav the start prior in her first Qld appearance, she can throw it down here.
TWEEDY (6) struck trouble last start at Marburg from outside the front line which ended her chances. Faced with another wide gate after a string of bad alleys, place claims look best.
SHEEZ GOT TORQUE (1) chased home for the bronze last time out at Redcliffe when 2m astern of the winner. A soft peg trip will assist her podium claims.
SELECTIONS: BEYOND DOUBT (5), MARDIBRINGSAPARTY (3), TWEEDY (6), SHEEZ GOT TORQUE (1)
SUGGESTED BET: BEYOND DOUBT (5) to win
RACE FOUR
Chasing a hat-trick of victories and looking to remain undefeated since switching stables, LAYDOWNLUNA (10) will need to negotiate the 20m impost. Completing the Triad and Springboard feature double last start, she has been back to the trials and can chase the threepeat.
ILLUSORY FEAT (7) has been in nice touch and was able to make the most of conditions at Marburg last Sunday when securing running line cover from a second line gate before finishing over the top to take a 2m winning margin. A winner in breaking maiden ranks three back, she can challenge.
WHIRLWIND WILBUR (11) has been hitting good areas in recent outings. Put a line through his Marburg run where he was forced to work, his previous three returned a pair of wins and he can atone.
OUR PETABILT (5) was returning from a spell and arriving back in Qld when winning here first up in similar conditions to this. Not suited at Marburg, her record on this deck is superb at 6:3-0-3.
SELECTIONS: LAYDOWNLUNA (10), ILLUSORY FEAT (7), WHIRLWIND WILBUR (11), OUR PETABILT (5)
SUGGESTED BET: LAYDOWNLUNA (10) to win
RACE FIVE
Placed at her past three starts, MISS HATTIE (4) is moving closer to a victory and finds the right conditions here to capitalise. Beaten an eyelash two starts back behind KEAYANG TARA, last start she was strong to the line behind VERMONT and a return to the big deck should help.
HEAVENLY WISDOM (5) is never too far from them in this grade and lines up here after finishing runner-up at her past two in succession. Sent forward last start at the middle trip and forcing to the front, she was unable to repel the late challenge of HES REGAL. Back to the mile suits.
TARIFA GIRL (2) showed early hustle before taking the trail last start and held on for the bronze behind HES REGAL. With the chance to find the poles early, she is a place prospect.
FEELIN FLIRTY (6) was a winner at this trip three starts back when pressing to the front from this same gate. Positioning cheaply will be key to him being a chance of repeating that effort.
SELECTIONS: MISS HATTIE (4), HEAVENLY WISDOM (5), TARIFA GIRL (2), FEELIN FLIRTY (6)
SUGGESTED BET: MISS HATTIE (4) to win
RACE SIX
Eased off the arm last start to settle rearward, BLING THE NOISE (5) was making good metres in the latter stages to just miss the money behind IMPERMISSIBLE. Attacking the line strongly the start prior when just a neck short of victory, this looks a race within reach.
OYSTER STRIDE (1) needed space sooner than it arrived last start when finishing 7m astern of the winner SHEZ A PUNTER. Trying to fend them off and take them all the way two starts back when 2nd to ROYAL PRINCESS at the 2138, he has the gate to throw down a challenge.
TIGER SHIRL (6) is a newcomer to Qld that has crossed the Tasman to join the mark Rees barn. A last start winner at Cambridge, the gate makes it a tough ask first up.
HES REGAL (8) started from this same gate last time out over the 2138 and when the gaps presented, darted through top take the prize. A similar trip can see him feature once again.
SELECTIONS: BLING THE NOISE (5), OYSTER STRIDE (1), TIGER SHIRL (6), HES REGAL (8)
SUGGESTED BET: BLING THE NOISE (5) to win
RACE SEVEN
ARENDELLE (12) is at his best over the middle trip and despite the outside second line gate, can look to secure the right cart into the contest here. A winner when pressing forward to take control three starts back, he was making late metres for 3rd last start behind SPORTY ZARA.
YANKEE C J (10) was a winner at the mile five runs back when defying a second line gate to arrive for victory. Placed at his past two starts, he worked hard in the run last start when runner-up to SHEZ A PUNTER. With the right trip, he can issue a challenge.
SARGEANT (5) has placed at three of his past five, the latest when trying to launch the closing play when runner-up to SPORTY ZARA. Positioning cheaply from the tricky gate will be key.
TORO LOCO (11) should take benefit from his last start where he was returning after finishing unplaced behind FRENCH FRIES in the 3YO Triad Final. Strong to the line, he can chase further improvement here.
SELECTIONS: ARENDELLE (12), YANKEE C J (10), SARGEANT (5), TORO LOCO (11)
SUGGESTED BET: ARENDELLE (12) win/place
RACE EIGHT
Despite a potentially awkward gate, THE LADY DIOR (6) should strip fitter following her last appearance when resuming from a let up. Gate seven effectively ended her chances in the Triad Final two starts back before returning with an ultra-impressive Redcliffe win. She can capitalise.
MY ULTIMATE FELIX (10) completed a hat-trick of victories when arriving from off the speed to take a 3m margin at the 2138m trip here two starts back. Eased from outside the front-line last start to chase short cuts, he was best of the chasers behind THE RASCAL. He can challenge.
ROCK HAMMER (2) was still giving on the line two runs back when beaten a head and last start was under 3m from the winner in a blanket finish. He can be thereabouts.
SMARTER THAN YOU (1) returns from a spell after a solitary start last campaign before being sent back to the paddock. With a tidy preparatory trial, he has the options to chime in.
SELECTIONS: THE LADY DIOR (6), MY ULTIMATE FELIX (10), ROCK HAMMER (2), SMARTER THAN YOU (1)
SUGGESTED BET:
RACE NINE
Relying on some factors to go his way, BEACHRIDE (8) looks set to enjoy a perfect trip behind the speed. Eased off the gate before closing strongly last time when 7m from AMAMI in finishing midfield, if the right trip presents, he can take the snipers shot in the stretch.
ROCKAWAY BEACH (1) has faced the starter twice since arriving in Qld and faced the second line in both. Buried last time when 11m from the winner MY ULTIMATE COBBER, his first up run was behind the handy BEYOND DOUBT. The improved gate is a huge help to his chances.
MULLUM HANK (7) was returning from over 12 months off the scene at Redcliffe when eased from gate four to find position. Attacking the line with gusto when set free, he claimed an impressive victory and will strip fitter for the run.
CREDULOUS (4) was a winner from gate one at the middle trip two starts back after being crossed early and then working back off to find the front. Tackling a mare’s event last start, she has claims.
SELECTIONS: BEACHRIDE (8), ROCKAWAY BEACH (1), MULLUM HANK (7), CREDULOUS (4)
SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-4-7-8
