Burnie, Friday 24 October

Form Analysis by Will Norman

Race 1

ALWAYSATIGER (3) broke her maiden here two starts back before leading and finishing 2nd at Launceston last Sunday. She draws to race prominently near the speed again tonight and despite likely breezing tonight, she looks hard to beat. DANCINWIVJOLENE (1) was an all-the-way winner here 2 starts back from gate 1 before breezing outside Alwaysatiger at Launceston last Sunday and fading in the straight. Likely to use the 1 gate to her advantage tonight and look to lead throughout and should be a good improver. GLENVIEW LANIKAI (6) hasn’t raced since May and we haven’t seen her at the public trials leading into tonight. She displayed good ability in her 3 runs last preparation and draws to have an economical run tonight. OUR SWEET TRIXIE (9) faces a tricky draw tonight but I thought her effort was ok after settling a long way back in the run last start.

Selections – ALWAYSATIGER (3), DANCINWIVJOLENE (1), GLENVIEW LANIKAI (6), OUR SWEET TRIXIE (9)

Race 2

Despite having a tough gate to overcome tonight, I think SHARMEY (10) is very close to a win. He was very good behind Shoobee’s Spirit in fast time at Hobart last week after working in the run to bring up his third second placing in his last five starts. He has won here in the past and with the right trip here, looks hard to hold out. HAY MIKI (7) was 4th behind Shoobee’s Spirit and battled away well in the straight. Draws to get a nice trail tonight and a good run in transit. LUVTHAT (1) is a good beginner who will likely look for an all-the-way victory tonight. If he doesn’t cop too much pressure in the run, he could be hard to chase down. ROLLWITHARTY (4) broke here on his Tasmanian debut before atoning with a strong effort to win at Launceston last Sunday. The draw could make it tricky tonight, but he isn’t without claims.

Selections – SHARMEY (10), HAY MIKI (7), LUVTHAT (1), ROLLWITHARTY (4)

Race 3

TULLAH GIRL (2) stepped away well here last start before sprinting well late to chase down Alberio. She does rise in grade tonight but from the nice draw, she can race right on the speed again and be hard to beat. ROCK ON PLAYBOY (1) sprinted very well to breakthrough for a well-deserved win at Hobart last Friday. He hasn’t raced from the stand in recent times but he is a three-time winner from the stand during his career. DAZZLE ME (8) sustained a long 3 wide run when winning here last start. He is building a good record here at Burnie, where he has now won 3 of his 7 starts. With a clean beginning tonight, he can be hitting the line well again. MODERN JIVE (7) ran an improved race last start after 2 disappointing starts in a row. He can figure if he can begin cleanly on his stand debut.

Selections – TULLAH GIRL (2), ROCK ON PLAYBOY (1), DAZZLE ME (8), MODERN JIVE (7)

Race 4

A good test of stamina here over 2500m which will be just over 4 laps of the Burnie circuit. I’m giving COLBY SANZ (9) another chance tonight. He began poorly here last start when finishing 5th to Kiavino Stride. That race was run at a good tempo throughout and made chasing very difficult. Over the longer trip tonight and the likelihood of a more even tempo, I think he can be hard to hold out. ROCKS ROY (8) continues to race well and will look to bring up his 8th win of the year tonight. He found the line well at Launceston last Sunday and looks one of the major players here. DIAMONDSNBLUE (5) is yet to miss top 2 in her 6 stand starts and is 3 starts for 2 wins at the Burnie track. Those stats are impressive and she is racing in consistent form to be right in the mix. JUST FOLLOW ME (2) is usually a safe beginner and should be able to put herself right on the speed tonight from the nice draw.

Selections – COLBY SANZ (9), ROCKS ROY (8), DIAMONDSNBLUE (5), JUST FOLLOW ME (2)

Race 5

TWILIGHT BEACH (7) was driven a treat by Dylan Ford last start when finishing 3rd to Tullah Girl here. She loomed as a big danger approaching the turn before having to come wide around the last bend. She should be able to settle a bit closer in the run tonight and looks a strong chance. ALBERIO (2) bounced to the front here 2 starts back from the stand and was only run down late. With a similar beginning tonight, he can be hard to chase down. MORRIS BROWN (1) galloped out at his stand debut before finding the line quite well after a wide run in the last lap. He should be improved from the effort and can be dangerous if he gets things right. MACH ANGELO (6) broke through last start at Hobart after a long run of outs. The effort had merit after carrying a flat tyre during the run and he might be able to go with it now.

Selections – TWILIGHT BEACH (7), ALBERIO (2), MORRIS BROWN (1), MACH ANGELO (6)

Race 6

Tricky maiden to assess. I thought the effort of VINCENTS RAINBOW (2) had merit in her 1st run for nearly 2 months last start. She was badly interfered with and found the line strongly late, to suggest she could have been in the finish with a cleaner run. She draws to race handy to the speed tonight and gets the services of Dylan Ford. IMA LITTLE NEEDY (4) has only had the 2 runs and returned with a nice 2nd to Stepupndance. He looks to have more upside than most of his rivals here and looks a major challenger. OUR WILLOW (1) does not have the best numerical form but I think she has more ability than it looks on paper. She returns after last being seen at the races in March but she was a nice all-the-way winner in a recent trial at Carrick. FAR LEFT FLETCH (6) was a good 2nd at Launceston 2 starts back and despite not being seen for 2 months, she draws to have a soft run in transit.

Selections – VINCENTS RAINBOW (2), IMA LITTLE NEEDY (4), OUR WILLOW (1), FAR LEFT FLETCH (6)

Race 7

Stand starts for the Up to 44 horses over the shorter trip are never easy races to assess, and this looks no different. NIKITA JO (3) was knocked over early on her stand debut before running into a lot of trouble at Launceston last Sunday as well. Drops in grade tonight and can turn her form around. IM QUITE AMERICAN (5) was able to win a similar race here last start and despite going back 10m can be competitive again. CINOCAL JAMANE (1) faded badly last start at Hobart but finished close up here 2 starts back and moves up to a front row draw tonight. SMOOTH DEAL (7) is usually a reliable beginner from the stand and can be thereabouts tonight in a suitable race.

Selections  - NIKITA JO (3), IM QUITE AMERICAN (5), CINOCAL JAMANE (1), SMOOTH DEAL (7)

Race 8

MISS CRUNCHY (3) has disappointed in both runs since coming to Tasmania but she hasn’t been completely without excuses. She drops considerably in grade tonight to put her best foot forward. TAKING A PUNT (2) draws to settle close tonight in the run and was ok behind Goodtime Oscar at Hobart last week. JADEZ (1) could be an improver 2nd up tonight from the inside draw after finding the line ok out wide on the track 1st up. The race was run to suit those on pace and she closed off quite well in a quick last quarter. HORRIE OTARA (5) never figured after going back to the tail of the field last start. Despite the wide draw, he could be an improver if able to land closer in the run.

Selections – MISS CRUNCHY (3), TAKING A PUNT (2), JADEZ (1), HORRIE OTARA (5)
