Form Analysis by Craig Rail
Race 1:
OVERVIEW: HOT DEAL (10) is a tough competitor, which has won nine of his fifteen starts on the Mildura circuit. He was competing at feature race level in Tasmania during his last campaign of racing and he appears to be well placed against this line up. POWERSOFPERSUASION (11) ran a big race for fourth last week after he made an early error and raced wide in the final circuit. He should be ready to strike his peak form after having four starts back from a spell and is worth following. ALL DA RAGE (9) raced out three horses wide for the final lap but performed below expectations when he failed to beat a runner home last week. His previous form was very strong so he is worth an investment. MAXY WANTS TO PLAY (5) pushed forward to find the lead and proved to be too strong when he won under similar conditions two starts ago. He was beaten at Metropolitan level last outing and is better suited against this line up. KEAYANG MOROCCAN (4) did well after racing on the outside of the leader throughout last week and rates as a value chance.
EARLY SPEED: 2 (possible leader), 1,4,5
SELECTIONS: HOT DEAL (10), POWERSOFPERSUASION (11), ALL DA RAGE (9), MAXY WANTS TO PLAY (5)
RATINGS: 10/ 9,11/ 5/ 4/ 7/ 6
SUGGESTED BET: HOT DEAL (10) to win
Race 2:
OVERVIEW: TAP TO PAY (11) settled in a rearward position and angled wide on the home turn when a fast finishing fourth behind To The Nines at Charlton last outing. She was an impressive winner at Bendigo four starts ago and she should be hitting the line strongly against this class. CLARENDEN VINTAGE (9) led out then took cover when second behind the in-form pacer Dallas Dale at Globe Derby last week. He is building up a consistent record and should be competitive at his Mildura debut. OBSYDIAN (4) finished off best after gaining an economical run at Ballarat last outing. This race is a little tougher but he is worth thought again. SLOANIE BEL (3) performed below expectations when ninth last week but she led throughout to win prior and she is a good chance of leading again so she is worth another chance.
EARLY SPEED: 3 (likely leader), 1
SELECTIONS: TAP TO PAY (11), CLARENDEN VINTAGE (9), OBSYDIAN (4), SLOANIE BEL (3)
RATINGS: 11/ 9/ 3,4/ 1,2
SUGGESTED BET: TAP TO PAY (11) to win
Race 3:
OVERVIEW: SONORA SUNSET (4) has been placed in ten of her eleven starts to date and deserves to break through for a win. She attempted to lead throughout but sustained a flat tyre when a creditable third last outing. ONLY SON (10) met a stronger field and battled on fairly well for fourth behind Out To Stay at Charlton last outing. He is poorly drawn but is capable of running into a place against this class. SHES MAGICAL (9) was headed off after starting from the pole position and settled three back on the markers when she didn’t have much room in the straight at her latest unlucky seventh. She has been runner up in three of her past five starts so she is not without a chance. LIVELY JOE (7) left a trailing position to race without cover when second behind Rachels Legacy at Mildura last outing. He has been placed in three of his past four starts and should produce another honest performance.
EARLY SPEED: 4 (likely leader), 2
SELECTIONS: SONORA SUNSET (4), ONLY SON (10), SHES MAGICAL (9), LIVELY JOE (7)
RATINGS: 4/ 9,10/ 7/ 2/ 3
SUGGESTED BET: SONORA SUNSET (4) to win
Race 4:
OVERVIEW: FLYIN TOMMY (2) is a fast beginner and is a good chance of finding the lead. He couldn’t lead early then was shuffled back in the field mid-race when a creditable fourth behind Budd Sidewinder at Mildura last week. IM ALRIGHT JACK (4) will appreciate the move to the front line and should give a forward showing. He was beaten narrowly behind She’s Poppy when coming from off the speed at Mildura three starts ago. HESASTAR (3) worked back into some form when he finished off well for third last week and he does well when he is close to the speed so he is worth an investment. CHEERS POVERTY (7) is likely to need some luck from the inside of the second line but he is racing in career best form and he beat most of tonight’s rivals to the line at Mildura last week so he cannot be left out of calculations.
EARLY SPEED: 2 (possible leader), 4,5
SELECTIONS: FLYIN TOMMY (2), IM ALRIGHT JACK (4), HESASTAR (3), CHEERS POVERTY (7)
RATINGS: 2,4/ 3,7/ 5
SUGGESTED BET: FLYIN TOMMY (2) each way
Race 5:
OVERVIEW: BETTER BLUE BOYS (6) has struck peak form with an all of the way victory at Mildura followed by a third behind Hanover Jack at Charlton. This race is of similar standard and he should prove hard to beat again. CALF PEN (8) finished off quickly to score at Mildura two starts ago then followed with a second behind Daylight last week, where he left a trailing position to move up without cover mid-race. He should make his presence felt under these conditions. PUNTO CALIENTE (5) continues to race consistently and was doing his best work at the end when third last week. He is awkwardly drawn but is worth a ticket each way. CRUZ WITH ROME (9) hasn’t raced since mid-August but he would go well if he is somewhere near his peak form. He won six races at Mildura earlier in the season and he is versatile enough to overcome the extreme draw.
EARLY SPEED: 6 (likely leader), 4,5
SELECTIONS: BETTER BLUE BOYS (6), CALF PEN (8), PUNTO CALIENTE (5), CRUZ WITH ROME (9)
RATINGS: 6/ 5,8/ 7,9/ 2,3,4
SUGGESTED BET: BETTER BLUE BOYS (6) to win
Race 6:
OVERVIEW: LILSTREPO (7) delivered a career best performance when she produced a big finishing burst to win easily at Bendigo on Wednesday night. She will take beating if she can repeat that performance here. WHITE STAR VILLAGE (6) has been racing well in South Australia and has performed nicely at Mildura previously having won fourteen races. He is worth thought despite the wide draw. LORD VERDE (1) is a fast beginner and appears to perform best when he is able to lead over the sprint distance so he has the conditions to suit him here. He endured a tough trip when fourth at Globe Derby last outing. RONZEL MICKY (5) is capable of sprinting to the line quickly with the right trail forward and has claims along with KEAYANG CRIPPA (8), which won nicely against similar opposition last week.
EARLY SPEED: 1 (likely leader), 2,6
SELECTIONS: LILSTREPO (7), WHITE STAR VILLAGE (6), LORD VERDE (1), KEAYANG CRIPPA (8)
RATINGS: 7/ 1,6/ 8/ 2,5
SUGGESTED BET: LILSTREPO (7) to win
Race 7:
OVERVIEW: It is an open race with many winning chances. RONZEL SONNY (2) has been performing fairly well in South Australia and is ideally drawn so he gets the nod. THE LADYBIRD (3) is first up from a break and hasn’t been to the trials but she showed enough ability last preparation to warrant respect. ROBERT CROCKA (9) pushed forward to find the lead and battled on fairly well for third at Mildura on September 23. He is a speedy pacer and should be finding the line strongly. WHITESTARCHRISTIAN (1) and HES A MODERN BOY (7) both have claims from their inside draw.
EARLY SPEED: 2 (possible leader), 1,3
SELECTIONS: RONZEL SONNY (2), THE LADYBIRD (3), ROBERT CROCKA (9), WHITESTARCHRISTIAN (1)
RATINGS: 2/ 3/ 1,7,9/ FIELD
SUGGESTED BET: RONZEL SONNY (2) each way
Race 8:
OVERVIEW: AVOCA BLUES (6) began quickly to lead, set up a genuine tempo and produced a cracking performance when second in a mile rate of 1.54.9 two starts ago. He missed out narrowly behind Kialla Kid last week and is capable of going one better now. KEAYANG SHADOWBOX (3) is building up a strong record on the Mildura circuit and scored comfortably over Starvin Marvin last outing. He is a versatile pacer and looms as one of the leading chances again. GOOD BOOTS BINDI (5) chased hard for second behind Tough Aint Enough in a slick mile rate of 1.56.2 at Mildura last outing. He is capable of sprinting to the line quickly with the right trail forward and is worth an investment. IM STUCK MAN (2) should be prominent throughout from his good draw and CAULONIA TERROR (7) rates as a value hope.
EARLY SPEED: 6 (likely leader), 2,3
SELECTIONS: AVOCA BLUES (6), KEAYANG SHADOWBOX (3), GOOD BOOTS BINDI (5), IM STUCK MAN (2)
RATINGS: 6/ 3,5/ 2/ 7/ 8
SUGGESTED BET: AVOCA BLUES (6) to win
Race 9:
OVERVIEW: ALWAYS EXCLUSIF (7) is a New South Wales trained pacer, which led throughout and won easily at Young last outing. She follows out behind the fast beginner DAYLIGHT (7) and should gain an economical run so she warrants respect. STARVIN MARVIN (2) was held up for a run at a vital stage and finished off solidly for fourth at Mildura last week. He is racing consistently and looms as one of the leading chances again. FLAME BLASTER (8) gained a nice trail and finished off well for second behind Illustrious last outing. He has the perfect trailing draw and should be competitive again. DAYLIGHT (1) faces a steep rise in class on her past two victories but she possesses early speed and she is drawn to receive every chance so she must be respected.
EARLY SPEED: 1 (likely leader), 3,4,5
SELECTIONS: ALWAYS EXCLUSIF (7), STARVIN MARVIN (2), FLAME BLASTER (8), DAYLIGHT (1)
RATINGS: 7/ 2/ 1,8/ 4,6
