Form Analysis by Will Norman

Hobart 3rd October 2025

Race 1

PHLOW JO (3) sustained a long 3 wide run without cover at Launceston last Sunday and battled away strongly to finish 3rd to stablemate Cuzzy Junior. Draws to race closer to the speed tonight and I think she looks well suited here. VOODOO RANGER (6) worked hard in the early stages in the same race before eventually finding the spot outside lead. He was beaten less than 8m on the line and could be dangerous with a softer run in transit. MY BAD (5) has recorded back-to-back 2nd’s and despite a tougher draw tonight is a chance. SHADES OF SILK (1) draws to have a soft trip tonight from his inside draw and could be an improver.

Selections – PHLOW JO (3), VOODOO RANGER (6), MY BAD (5), SHADES OF SILK (1)

Race 2

CAPTAIN CHEDDAR (3) has been much improved at his past 2 starts and drops back in grade tonight. A good effort at Launceston on Sunday night where he finished 3rd to the progressive Unmatched. Draws to be right on the speed here from the good draw. OH NO NEVER AGAIN (2) is living up to his name after he made another error last start. If he behaves tonight, I think looks well in the mix here from the good draw. STAROFREMEMBRANCE (5) found the line well in a similar race last week at Hobart while VELOCITY STRIDE (7) is racing in consistent form and despite the draw, looks in the mix.

Selections – CAPTAIN CHEDDAR (3), OH NO NEVER AGAIN (2), STAROFREMEMBRANCE (5), VELOCITY STRIDE (7)

Race 3

MONEYS NO ISSUE (6) found the line well last start to finish 3rd behind the in-form Arma Rolling Stone. He was nearly a month between runs leading into that race so with the shorter turnaround and stepping up to his favourite distance tonight, he looks hard to beat. PHOTO FIRST (1) didn’t have the best of luck last start and gets the draw tonight to be more prominent in the run. JUST FOLLOW ME (3) drops back in grade after contesting predominantly stand start races in recent starts. Her best form would see her competitive here. TOP GUN TED (4) found the line well in his 1st run for the Wayne Yole stable last week and could be further improved tonight.

Selections – MONEYS NO ISSUE (6), PHOTO FIRST (1), JUST FOLLOW ME (3), TOP GUN TED (4)

Race 4

YURUGA LASS (1) chased home Arma Rolling Stone last start and was able to run into 2nd. This looks an easier assignment tonight for her and from the inside draw, should be able to secure a good run in transit. TAKING A PUNT (2) struggled at Launceston last start after racing in the breeze. He has options from his draw tonight, with no back row horses, to secure a kinder run – and could be a good improver. YELLA (4) has his 1st run in Tasmania tonight and brings across some decent Victorian form in recent months. TALK IS CHEAP (3) hit the line well from a long way back behind Hay Miki. The smaller field means she naturally settles closer tonight and looks a contender.

Selections – YURUGA LASS (1), TAKING A PUNT (2), YELLA (4), TALK IS CHEAP (3)

Race 5

YARECKON IM SWEET (5) resumes here off the back of an impressive trial win at Carrick. Working to the front after an early error, she was strong through the line, holding subsequent winner Hay Miki in the process. Her best form would have her hard to beat here despite being 1st up. GOBSMACKED (6) is mixing his form in recent starts but found the line well at Launceston last Sunday to finish a close up 2nd to Hay Miki. The small field looks to suit him. ANGELSHAVTIME (3) is a mare racing in good form and can sprint well off the right trip. MORRIS BROWN (1) battled away fairly last week in the fast run race won by Arma Rolling Stone. A winner over this track/distance 3 starts, he could be in the placings if he brings his best form.

Selections – YARECKON IM SWEET (5), GOBSMACKED (6), ANGELSHAVTIME (3), MORRIS BROWN (1)

Race 6

MODERN JIVE (5) disappointed last start after doing plenty of work in the middle stages on a very rain affected track. He was a back-to-back winner this track/distance at his 2 starts prior. He looked sharp winning a Burnie trial on Monday, sprinting quickly after settling last in the run. The small field looks to suit him tonight. WILL HE PIKE (2) found the line well last week in similar grade when finishing runner up to Montgomery Burns. The claim for Bronte Miller tonight sees him well in again here. DIAMONDSNBLUE (1) broke through for a deserved win last start after 4 seconds in her previous 5 starts. She is racing in consistent form and from the good draw, can’t be discounted. The 12yo ROCKS ROY (3) continues to race well and has placed in 7 of his last 8 starts.

Selections – MODERN JIVE (5), WILL HE PIKE (2), DIAMONDSNBLUE (1), ROCKS ROY (3)
