Form Analysis by Darren Clayton
RACE ONE
Starting to show some more maturity in his performances this campaign, HOT ROD HARRY (5) can look to make the most of conditions here. Pressing forward to find the front from a second line gate two starts back when 3rd, he was game after a tough trip last start.
VINSANITY (1) was at the tail of the field here last week after facing the outside front line gate. Making good metres for the bronze behind OUR SUNSET DELIGHT the start prior, an improved gate is a huge plus and settling near the action can look to throw down the challenge.
TEDDY TURPIN (6) was forced to sit parked last start and was in for the fight when grinding out the bronze behind BOTTICELLI. Just a head away the start prior, he will be right in the fight.
EPIC ERNIE (8) should appreciate the lack of expense required to get a ticket into the closing stages of this contest. Working home wide off the track in recent starts, he will be probing.
SELECTIONS: HOT ROD HARRY (5), VINSANITY (1), TEDDY TURPIN (6), EPIC ERNIE (8)
SUGGESTED BET: HOT ROD HARRY (5) to win
RACE TWO
If able to sit in the pocket trail, CHECKNOUTHETALENT (8) will be hard to hold out over the closing stages. Placed at his past three in succession, the latest when runner-up to MYDADSAID, the start prior he was using the passing lane when 4m from IN EXCESS.
WATCHMEDAZZLE (4) was locked away on the inside in a veterans contest two starts back when the closing tempo made it an ask for the chasers, with MAJOR JELLIS capitalising. Finishing hard to claim the prize last start, he steps up to B5 company but can challenge.
BETTING ORIGIN (1) has been a shade or two below his best in four runs back from a spell. With his best gate since resuming, he finds the conditions to turn his fortunes.
AMAMI (3) is a consistent performer that is never too far from the action. Grabbing the bronze behind SWEET MIA last start, he is a podium player once more.
SELECTIONS: CHECKNOUTHETALENT (8), WATCHMEDAZZLE (4), BETTING ORIGIN (1), AMAMI (3)
SUGGESTED BET: CHECKNOUTHETALENT (8) to win
RACE THREE
A PERFECT DANCE (5) just cannot seem to snare a breakthrough in recent starts, despite putting together runs that are full of effort. Asked to sit parked last start from gate 4 when midfield to REELY NAUTI, the start prior she was 8m from SWEET HAYLEY JANE. This is winnable.
BETTORS MOON (7) was chasing four in succession here on Tuesday when sent around them in the early stages from gate 10 to sit parked. Grafting it out when 2m astern of the winner, a return to the front line is in her favour and she can press on to issue the challenge.
OUR ULTIMATE JESSY (1) was beaten by gate 7 last start when retreating before trying to make ground behind RADIANT AMBER. Unplaced in both appearances on this deck, she has the gate to change the numbers.
TWEEDY (9) is also a 3YO filly taking on the older mares that hit the line strongly last start for 3rd behind EXCLUSIVE HUSTLER. This is a step up, but a soft cart into the contest will benefit.
SELECTIONS: A PERFECT DANCE (5), BETTORS MOON (7), OUR ULTIMATE JESSY (1), TWEEDY (9)
SUGGESTED BET:
RACE FOUR
Finding the right conditions to chase a return to form, BRONSKI ZULU (2) was sent forward to sit parked last start and was fighting into the stretch when 1m from the winner. Gate 10 at the 2138 hurt the start prior and with an improved gate, he can look to capitalise.
MARVELLOUS MAC (1) was snagged off the arm last start and from deep field did not have the smoothest passage when down the line. Runner-up to ITS ELECTRIFYING the start prior when chasing four in succession, he finds the gate to bounce back into winning form.
IRON CLAD (6) found the conditions to breakthrough when stepping safely off the mark and dictating three starts back. Unplaced in both starts since when 7m away on each occasion.
BETTOR CULLECT (8) will secure the economical trip on offer from this gate and be searching for openings in the stretch. Beaten by the outside front last start, she has podium claims.
SELECTIONS: BRONSKI ZULU (2), MARVELLOUS MAC (1), IRON CLAD (6), BETTOR CULLECT (8)
SUGGESTED BET:
RACE FIVE
Powering up from this same gate last start in a 75Heat, SWEET MIA (6) took control and from the front was able to carve out a 6m margin in a PB mile. Under 3m from the smart 3YO STRIKEM the start prior, she can get forward to capitalise.
TICK A LOCH (8) started from this gate last start when shuffled back before making late metres for the silver behind LA DERNIERE. Finding the pocket trail and then finishing best on the passing lane the start prior, she will be probing the openings to offer a challenge.
SKY FAWKES (1) will be third up in Qld and lands her best gate since arriving. Snagged off the arm last start when midfield behind CONGO LINE, she has the gate to turn things around.
MAJORITA JUJON (9) can look for the fence and with this likely to be tempo driven, the short way home will be a plus. Hitting the line strongly last time on the inside, she is a podium hope.
SELECTIONS: SWEET MIA (6), TICK A LOCH (8), SKY FAWKES (1), MAJORITA JUJON (9)
SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-6-8-9
RACE SIX
In super form in recent weeks, ROCKET CITY (2) can capitalise on race fitness to chalk up a sixth win here at HQ. Shooting for a hat-trick last start, he was forced to roll the sleeves outside the leader over the middle trip in a brave 2m deficit behind ATTACHMENT. He can power up.
BIRIRKARA (3) returns from a spell after his last appearance in the Rising Sun back in early July. Angled to the inside from a wide second line gate and finishing 11m from FATE AWAITS, his effort was big in front the start prior in a 1.50.6 mile. He is on the up and will throw it down.
ROYAL SPEECH (8) has the second line options as the lone runner out the back. Setting the tempo last start when beaten in the last stride, he gets the chance to chase a minor.
TARGARYEN (4) returns from a break and has been to the trials in readiness for this where he pushed BIRIRKARA right out. Saved for one shot, he is a podium threat.
SELECTIONS: ROCKET CITY (2), BIRIRKARA (3), ROYAL SPEECH (8), TARGARYEN (4)
SUGGESTED BET: ROCKET CITY (2) to win
RACE SEVEN
With unsuitable gates in recent starts, the right set up should present here for CHEER LEADER (1) to bounce back to winning form. A 54 half from the front last week made it impossible wide off the track behind SWEET HAYLEY JANE and with all the options, she can cash in.
LA DERNIERE (4) has hit the board in six of her past seven starts, the latest when holding on for the bronze after a tough trip first over as SWEET HAYLEY JANE carved it out in front. Looming strongly only to throw it away when ducking in near the winning post the start prior, she looms.
RADIANT AMBER (8) has landed in Qld with a bang, winning two from two in quick succession. With the chance of a soft peg trip, she can chase a third.
TILLY JAYNE (2) fired off the arm in a qualifier two starts back and from the front over the middle trip was able to fend them off. Game in defeat last start, she is a podium player here.
SELECTIONS: CHEER LEADER (1), LA DERNIERE (4), RADIANT AMBER (8), TILLY JAYNE (2)
SUGGESTED BET: CHEER LEADER (1) to win
RACE EIGHT
A return to mare’s company from the good gate will be the right play for GOLDEN FIRE (1) who also has the benefit of all the options from the gate. Beaten by gate 7 last start when retreating and against the tempo, she was a winner in this company three back and can repeat that here.
SWEET HAYLEY JANE (2) dictated to an effortless victory here last week when sent to the front and stomping out a 54 flat closing half was never in danger. Winning from back in the pack the start prior, she can press the button early to throw down the challenge.
SOAP OPERA (6) will be further tightened following her latest outing when second up from a spell. Finishing rearward behind ATTACHMENT, a return to her own sex is a big plus.
MOTH HUNTER (4) settled in the running line last start from a second line gate when unable to get warm in the closing stages. Taking them all the way two back, she is a podium hope.
SELECTIONS: GOLDEN FIRE (1), SWEET HAYLEY JANE (2), SOAP OPERA (6), MOTH HUNTER (4)
SUGGESTED BET: GOLDEN FIRE (1) to win
RACE NINE
A winner under similar conditions at the mid weeks two starts back TIMS A TROOPER (5), comes into this off the same impost where he was able to graft out a gritty victory with a slippery last half. Strong to the line here last week behind WISPER A SECRET, he can take this.
SEND IT (4) is a great beginner and with the two front line horses forced to stand wide with the ODS embargo, he can be looking to scoot through underneath them. Finding the front off this tape two starts back when collared in the last strides by TIMS A TROOPER, he can challenge.
MOSSDALE TERRY (7) drew wide from the mobile last start and was always facing a task as ATTAHCMENT carved it out in front. Chasing THE JANITOR the start prior, back to the tapes helps.
BETTERTHAN POPSY (2) will need to get the start right if he is to feature. Grabbing the silver from behind the start car two starts back, if he can find the pegs cheaply, he can grab a minor.
SELECTIONS: TIMS A TROOPER (5), SEND IT (4), MOSSDALE TERRY (7), BETTERTHAN POPSY (2)
SUGGESTED BET: TIMS A TROOPER (5) to win
RACE TEN
Returning from a let up, GUS (7) has been back to the trials to open the pipes for his latest campaign that will see him build towards a NZ trip in November. Finishing just behind the placings in the Inter Dom Final, he scored a dominant win just seven days later over the mobile mile. Despite the 30m, he can cash in.
GET USED TO IT (4) was an eye catcher first up here a fortnight back when settled three back along the inside from the 10m tape. Making good ground in the stretch to grab the silver behind HIDE AND SEEK, the added fitness can see him throw down the challenge.
MUFASA METRO (3) makes his first appearance in the Sunshine State after switching to the Tayla Gillespie barn. Last seen at Melton in FFA company behind IM BOBBY, he stays under a big watch first up.
HIDE AND SEEK (6) found the front last time soon after the start from the 10m tape and leading them up, then rolled up the track at the 400. Knuckling down to fight back to score, he faces an extra 10m here.
SELECTIONS: GUS (7), GET USED TO IT (4), MUFASA METRO (3), HIDE AND SEEK (6)
SUGGESTED BET:
