Form Analysis by Will Norman

Race 1

BUBBLES AMORE (1) was a 20k purchase at last year’s Nutrien Tasmania sale. We have only seen her publicly once where she was runner up in a Carrick trial behind Jilliby Randal. She displayed good gate speed in her trial, and from the inside draw looks to have options. STEPUPNDANCE (6) disappointed last start over the longer trip but her previous form over the sprint trips would have her in the mix here. She was a good 3rd from the breeze position 3 starts back. ROCKNROLL MCRAE (3) finished 3rd after leading last start and from the nice draw should get a good run in transit. PHLOW JO (7) can mix her performances but looks to have good ability when she brings her best manners.

Selections – BUBBLES AMORE (1), STEPUPNDANCE (6), ROCKNROLL MCRAE (3), PHLOW JO (7)

Race 2

GOBSMACKED (8) hit the line well at Launceston last Sunday when a close 2nd to the in-form Sapphire Gambler. He draws to get a soft trip on the pegs again tonight, and with even luck should be finishing off well. TULLAH GIRL (5) is a very consistent type who started favourite and finished 2nd in a very similar race last start. She had a nice run in transit on that occasion but if she is able to secure a similar run tonight, she will be right in the mix. TAKING A PUNT (7) beat home Tullah Girl 3 starts back and finished 2nd last Friday behind Maninky Moonshine. The draw is against here but should be thereabouts. CINCINNATI (2) has struggled over this distance previously but from the good draw, gets his chance today.

Selections – GOBSMACKED (8), TULLAH GIRL (5), TAKING A PUNT (7), CINCINNATI (2)

Race 3

Good 56-63 contest here with a number of these horses racing in good form. SMOKESCREEN (10) will need a few things to go his way from the draw but he has been luckless in recent starts. Hit the line well last start when only seeing some room very late in the race. He will be finishing off hard here with the right trip. DIAMONDSNBLUE (2) has finished runner up in 4 of her last 5 starts and from the draw tonight should get a nice run in transit. She was able to utilise the sprint lane last Friday but she didn’t have the best momentum when she found clear running. MISS COLLANN (4) is a mare racing in good form with 2 wins and 2 seconds from her last 4 starts. Narrowly beaten on the rain affected track last start, she looks to be right in the mix again. MISTA EAGLE (9) has found the line well in recent runs and despite not placing in 16 starts this year, he is racing better than that statistic suggests.

Selections – SMOKESCREEN (10), DIAMONDSBLUE (2), MISS COLLANN (4), MISTA EAGLE (9)

Race 4

Very interesting contest here with the unbeaten MEDINA (8) taking on his toughest test to date. Not overly sure what to make of his 1st up win last Friday. Galloping early in the score up, he was able to find the front thereafter and looked likely to record a big victory before getting a little tired late. Should be fitter here 2nd up, and if he brings his manners throughout will no doubt be hard to beat again. I thought the effort of SAMKERR (5) in the Tasmanian Oaks had plenty of merit. She did plenty of work in a fast 1st lap before sticking on well to finish 4th. She was well held by the Emma Stewart stablemates but they are both high class fillies. DIDYALOUSAROOSTA (3) worked to the breeze last Sunday and battled away quite well when finishing 4th to Sabine. SMILING MIA (2) was outclassed in the Tasmanian Oaks but her previous run was solid and she draws to get a nice run here.

Selections – MEDINA (8), SAMKERR (5), DIDYALOUSAROOSTA (3), SMILING MIA (2)

Race 5

Found this race a tricky race to map and there looks to be a number of chances depending on how the map plays out. RUBINS PLIGHT (4) comes off back to back 2nds with his latest 2nd coming last Sunday when runner up to Mr Bondi. There looks to be the potential for good early speed here and I think RUBINS PLIGHT will be driven conservatively early and if the tempo does suit him, he should be hitting the line well. MR BONDI (6) was able to find the front early last week and is racing well. Expecting him to push forward despite his wide gate here. MAJOR LESTER (1) draws to get a soft pegs trip tonight. He hasn’t had a draw like this for a long time so I expect him to be quite positive early. SUGARPOVA (8) has options early being the only horse off the back row and found the line ok behind MR BONDI last start despite not much going right for her in the run.

Selections – RUBINS PLIGHT (4), MR BONDI (6), MAJOR LESTER (1), SUGARPOVA (8)

Race 6

STAR MAJOR (7) has to overcome the outside draw here but he is very versatile. He will likely move around to the breeze early, and if that’s the map, he will be hard to beat again. VANQUISH STRIDE (6) never saw room last Sunday behind Maddis Tiger. His previous effort when 2nd to STAR MAJOR was very encouraging and he looks to be racing in very good form. WATERMELON SUGAR (2) is likely to be driven more aggressively early here from the good draw and is very consistent. GLENLEDI ELVIS (5) won back to back races before breezing and sticking on well last Sunday. With the right trip here, he will be thereabouts again.

Selections – STAR MAJOR (7), VANQUISH STRIDE (6), WATERMELON SUGAR (2), GLENLEDI ELVIS (5)

Race 7

MOVESLIKEALADY (8) found the line well last start behind Horatio Speculo in a race that suited those racing on pace. She is an ODM runner but has the advantage of being the only horse off the back row. She will have options early and I think with the right run here, she will be hard to hold out. SWEET DIXIE (1) didn’t have much peace last start when run down late. Draws to get a good pegs trip tonight and is very consistent. SAPPHIRE GAMBLER (5) is looking for four straight wins tonight and continues to step up despite jumping in class each start. Faces another class rise tonight but he is racing too well to dismiss. JEREMY WELLS (6) has been struggling of late but does look to drop in class here tonight and could be an improver.

Selections – MOVESLIKEALADY (8), SWEET DIXIE (1), SAPPHIRE GAMBLER (5), JEREMY WELLS (6)

Race 8

Interesting contest to finish the night here despite only 6 runners. TRIPLE VINNIES (4) looks well placed here with the claim for Tiarna Ford. Finished off well behind Maddi’s Tiger last Sunday and the small field looks to suit here. NEON (1) is an interesting runner who is 1st up here since May. He was the winner of a recent Carrick trial and if he is ready to go 1st up he will be hard to beat. DRESSED IN GOLD (2) failed to finish last start but her previous form was very solid and could bounce back here. WE SALUTE YOU (6) hit the line strongly to narrowly go down in the stand won by Miss Dutton at Launceston last week and is racing in good form.

Selections – TRIPLE VINNIES (4), NEON (1), DRESSED IN GOLD (2), WE SALUTE YOU (6)
