Form Analysis by Craig Rail

Race 1:

OVERVIEW: SHADES OF MIKI (11) is racing well in New South Wales and should prove hard to beat against this line up. He endured a tough run and had excuses when fifth ($1-85 fav) at Wagga last outing and was placed at his four starts prior including a second at Menangle in February. VILLAROCK (6) is racing in good form and looms as one of the leading chances. He gained a nice trail and finished off fast to win in a mile rate of 1.57.3 at Melton on June 20. MISTER JIMARINGLE (13) will appreciate a slight drop back in class for this assignment and he hasn’t had much luck recently so he is worth an investment. BYRNESIDE BOOM (1) may be headed off at the start but he is a tough type and will be competitive if he can hold a forward position early. CELESTIAL ZODIAC (8) is awkwardly positioned behind BYRNESIDE BOOM (1) at the start but he is nearing a win against this class.

EARLY SPEED: 2 (possible leader), 3,4,6

SELECTIONS: SHADES OF MIKI (11), VILLAROCK (6), MISTER JIMARINGLE (13), BYRNESIDE BOOM (1)

RATINGS: 11/ 6/ 1,8,13/ 3,4,12

SUGGESTED BET: SHADES OF MIKI (11) to win

Race 2:

OVERVIEW: FINAL BOW (2) began quickly to lead from a wide draw and was able to hold off her rivals to win her heat of this series and will take catching under these conditions. BIG RIG SAINT (3) was heavily supported and didn’t have much luck when fourth in his heat assignment. He finished fourth in a strong race won by Viney prior so he is worth another chance. OUR MYSTERY BET (10) is awkwardly drawn but was very brave in his heat second behind FINAL BOW (2) as he raced on the outside of the leader throughout and was coming again at the finish. He will be suited if there is a genuine tempo throughout. BETTORSWEETVICTORY (4) finished quickly from last on the markers and ran an eye-catching race for third in her heat performance. She has been placed at her past three starts and is worth a ticket each way. JOEYS HANGOVER (6) comes into this race being a heat winner albeit at the price of $81 so he cannot be discarded.

EARLY SPEED: 2 (likely leader), 1,3,5

SELECTIONS: FINAL BOW (2), BIG RIG SAINT (3), OUR MYSTERY BET (10), BETTORSWEETVICTORY (4)

RATINGS: 2/ 3,10/ 4/ 5,6,12

SUGGESTED BET: FINAL BOW (2) to win

Race 3:

OVERVIEW: MYNAMEISRUBY (11) was confidently supported and overcame the same draw against a very similar field at Shepparton last week so she should take holding out in the run to the finish. NOBLE JULIA (4) led out then took cover when a narrow second behind MYNAMEISRUBY (11) last time out. She is likely to adopt similar tactics now and is capable of going one better. CLEM MCCARDLE (2) will appreciate his easiest assignment for some time and he is ideally drawn so he is a possible improver. KIMCHI (9) raced wide in last lap and didn’t have much luck when eighth at Bendigo last outing. She was placed at her four starts prior including a convincing win at Maryborough so she is worth another chance.

EARLY SPEED: 4 (likely early leader), 5,7

SELECTIONS: MYNAMEISRUBY (11), NOBLE JULIA (4), CLEM MCCARDLE (2), KIMCHI (9)

RATINGS: 4,11/ 2,9/ 5,7,10

SUGGESTED BET: MYNAMEISRUBY (11) each way

Race 4:

OVERVIEW: SOHO DARKNSTORMY (9) recorded a slick mile rate of 1.55.1 when he scored over Ata Rangi (won since) two starts ago then followed with an eighth behind Clear Left at Metropolitan level. He is a handy former New South Wales pacer and should be suited against this line up. JETTER SON (10) looms as the logical danger. He remained undefeated in three starts during his last preparation including a victory in a sizzling mile rate of 1.53.5 at Maryborough and he will be fitter after a trial second behind Zenario in fast time. DELIGHTFUL CHARM (2) didn’t have much luck when seventh in a heat of the Mares Sprint Championship last outing. She was placed in three of her previous four starts and she should run her usual honest race. LINE DANCE (6) finished off well from midfield when second to Valiente last outing and is a place chance again.

EARLY SPEED: 4 (possible leader), 7

SELECTIONS: SOHO DARKNSTORMY (9), JETER SON (10), DELIGHTFUL CHARM (2), LINE DANCE (6)

RATINGS: 9,10/ 2/ 6/ 1,7

SUGGESTED BET: SOHO DARKNSTORMY (9) to win

Race 5:

OVERVIEW: BULLAPARK BENO (5) has been placed at his past five starts and deserves to break through for a win. He pushed forward from a wide draw to race without cover when a game second last outing so he is capable of going one better now. AT THE DISTANCE (2) led out then took cover and finished off best to win at Shepparton last outing. He is likely to adopt similar tactics from his good draw here so he is not without a chance. AMOUR MATERNAL (6) followed an eye-catching third at Maryborough with a big victory over Karbine at Bendigo so she is racing well enough to figure in the finish. OX KNOX (10) progressed forward to find the lead and was in a dominant position but started trotting very roughly throughout the last quarter and lost his winning chance at his latest second. He has ability and is a winning chance if he is on his best behaviour.

EARLY SPEED: 2 (likely early leader), 1,5

SELECTIONS: BULLAPARK BENO (5), AT THE DISTANCE (2), AMOUR MATERNAL (6), OX KNOX (10)

RATINGS: 5/ 2,6/ 10/ 7,8

SUGGESTED BET: BULLAPARK BENO (5) to win

Race 6:

OVERVIEW: MAJOR HAYLEY (1) is a New South Wales trained pacer, which finished third as favourite at Wagga last outing. She was racing well at Menangle prior and she should be competitive from the pole position. THE POSTMASTER (8) attempted to lead throughout when second behind Iloveacalendergirl at Cranbourne last outing. He has the perfect trailing draw behind MAJOR HAYLEY (1) so he should go well again. STAY ALPHA (3) met a handy type in Jilliby Illusion when third last outing and he is racing consistently so he is worth an investment. CATHERINE (5) possesses early speed and has claims along with ONYX (7).

EARLY SPEED: 1 (possible leader), 3,5

SELECTIONS: MAJOR HAYLEY (1), THE POSTMASTER (8), STAY ALPHA (3), CATHERINE (5)

RATINGS: 1/ 8/ 3,5/ 7/ 6

SUGGESTED BET: MAJOR HAYLEY (1) to win

Race 7:

OVERVIEW: PERUN (8) has had a terrible run with the barrier draw since a victory at Melton on May 24 and he strikes a suitable assignment now. He worked hard early after commencing from the outside of the front line and eventually gained cover when a brave fifth (5m) at Melton last outing. ALOT LIKE LOUIE (7) settled midfield and finished off well for third behind My Ultimate Barney at Melton last outing. He defeated Seathestars (won the South-East Derby since) at a Melton victory in May so he must be respected. PESCI (6) led out then took cover when third behind Silver Pistol in a strong race at Melton last outing. He is racing in good form and is one of the leading chances again. LAYDEN (4) possesses a powerful finishing burst and will be fitter after his first up seventh at Melton so he is not without a chance.

EARLY SPEED: 2 (possible leader), 1,6

SELECTIONS: PERUN (8), ALOT LIKE LOUIE (7), PESCI (6), LAYDEN (4)

RATINGS: 8/ 6,7/ 4/ 3/ 1,2

SUGGESTED BET: PERUN (8) each way

Race 8:

OVERVIEW: KYVALLEY MAVEN (7) is a smart trotter that appears to be very well placed against this line up. He set up the speed and went down fighting when second behind the in-form mare Dichotomy at Melton last outing then settled in a rearward position at Metropolitan level last outing. KYVALLEY ANTHONY (6) is a fast beginner and appears to be the likely leader. He led throughout at a Maryborough victory three starts ago and should give another forward showing here. DOSSIER (8) settled midfield and finished off best to win over Majestic Tooth at Kilmore last week. She is stepping up in class for this assignment and is worth thought again. QUAKE PROOF (3) finished off stylishly for an eye-catching fifth at Geelong last outing and rates as a value chance.

EARLY SPEED: 6 (likely leader), 2,5

SELECTIONS: KYVALLEY MAVEN (7), KYVALLEY ANTHONY (6), DOSSIER (8), QUAKE PROOF (3)

RATINGS: 7/ 6/ 3,8/ 2

SUGGESTED BET: KYVALLEY MAVEN (7) to win
