Form Analysis by Craig Rail
Race 1:
OVERVIEW: SIR SONNY MAGUIRE (5) bounced back into his best form with a dominant front running display in his heat victory. He is likely to press forward at the start again and should give another bold showing. MCWIZARD (10) was held up for a run at a vital stage and finished off fast when an eye-catching second in his heat. He recorded a mile rate of 1.56.0 in winning at Shepparton prior and he should be hitting the line strongly again here. KARUMA KEV (1) produced a big performance to win at Bendigo two starts ago then was run down after setting the speed last week. He is perfectly drawn to suit his racing pattern so he is worth another chance. TORQUE POWER (4) worked hard in the run and did well to win his heat in fast time then backed up against strong opposition at Melton on Saturday. He is racing in good form and should make his presence felt.
EARLY SPEED: 1 (likely early leader), 4,5,6
SELECTIONS: SIR SONNY MAGUIRE (5), MCWIZARD (10), KARUMA KEV (1), TORQUE POWER (4)
RATINGS: 5/ 1,4,10/ 7,11/ 12
SUGGESTED BET: SIR SONNY MAGUIRE (5) each way
Race 2:
OVERVIEW: HAND WRITER (8) has a trailing draw behind a fast beginner and appears to be well graded against this line up. She recorded a mile rate of 1.57.3 when she won at Cobram in April and was runner up behind Where’s Wood Wood at her latest attempt. FOUR STARZZZ RUBY (2) won twice at the beginning of the season when using her gate speed and she is a good chance of finding the lead from the ideal draw here so she is capable of improving on her numerical form. BERYLS GRIN (11) has been racing fairly well against similar opposition and is capable of making a move once the pace slackens. He has claims despite the awkward draw. MURIEL (10) finished off reasonably well for third at Kilmore two starts ago then raced on the same track again on Thursday. She is usually competitive against this class and is not without a chance.
EARLY SPEED: 2 (likely leader), 1
SELECTIONS: HAND WRITER (8), FOUR STARZZZ RUBY (2), BERYLS GRIN (11), MURIEL (10)
RATINGS: 8/ 2/ 10,11/ 1,7/ 9
SUGGESTED BET: HAND WRITER (8) to win
Race 3:
OVERVIEW: MAD PUNTA (5) is a fast beginner and has improved with every start this preparation. He was able to get up on the line at Kilmore two starts ago and this is a race of similar quality so he is worth thought again. WITH IN REASON (1) was a comfortable winner at Shepparton three starts ago and hasn’t had much luck in two starts since. He appears to be better placed under these conditions and should give a forward showing. LORIMERMAJOR (2) will appreciate his best draw for some time and has the speed to be in the finish. He has won seven races already this season and he was making ground from a long way back at his latest sixth. FEAR THE POWER (7) has been racing well in New South Wales and will take holding out via the sprint lane if WITH IN REASON (1) can hold a forward position at the start. SOHO PLAYGIRL (10) disappointed at Shepparton last outing but has won a trial at Echuca since so she is worth another chance.
EARLY SPEED: 1 (possible leader), 2,4,5
SELECTIONS: MAD PUNTA (5), WITH IN REASON (1), LORIMERMAJOR (2), FEAR THE POWER (7)
RATINGS: 5/ 1,2/ 7,10/ 4/ 8
SUGGESTED BET: MAD PUNTA (5) each way
Race 4:
OVERVIEW: WORTH WAITING (9) is lightly raced but has a lot of ability when she is at her peak. She finished fourth in the New South Wales Oaks last season and hasn’t started since being unplaced in the Super Series Final after she won a heat. She will be fitter after a recent trial third behind Nordic Reign and warrants respect. KINVARA KATE (6) scored by over thirty metres at her first run since a spell and defeated a subsequent winner in Chicago Craze in the process. She galloped at her next attempt and is backing up from her effort at Kilmore on Thursday. She is a classy filly and looms as a threat to WORTH WAITING (9). ATTRACTED (3) is resuming since an eighth at Kilmore in January but he comfortably won a trial at Bendigo and is drawn to give a forward showing. IM IN STYLE (2) appeared to be bolting with no clear run on the home turn at Shepparton last week and worked into third over the latter stages. She is a place hope again from the good draw.
EARLY SPEED: 1 (possible leader), 2,3
SELECTIONS: WORTH WAITING (9), KINVARA KATE (6), ATTRACTED (3), IM IN STYLE (2)
RATINGS: 9/ 6/ 3/ 2,8
SUGGESTED BET: WORTH WAITING (9) to win
Race 5:
OVERVIEW: CATIES SON (7) is a juvenile gelding taking on the older horses but he appears to be very hard to beat against this line up. He has been placed in all of his three starts and hit the line strongly for second behind the classy filly Ride The Highs in a slick mile rate of 1.56.3 last week. KRAKEY (6) has a few gait issues but he is a strong type and is capable of showing up prominently if he can get away safely. IM PRINCESS ARNA (3) began quickly to lead and was run down at the end when third ($1-65 fav) behind Give Fred A Clap at Cranbourne last outing. She is an experienced maiden but she has been placed nine times and is drawn to obtain a prominent position again. IM TIGGY TIGER (2) is resuming since March but won a trial at Echuca last week and is a possible improver from her good draw.
EARLY SPEED: 3 (likely leader), 2,5
SELECTIONS: CATIES SON (7), KRAKEY (6), IM PRINCESS ARNA (3), IM TIGGY TIGER (2)
RATINGS: 7/ 3,6/ 2/ 5
SUGGESTED BET: CATIES SON (7) to win
Race 6:
OVERVIEW: INTERPRETATION (6) used plenty of energy at the start to lead then took cover when fourth at Bendigo last outing. She was runner up at her three starts prior and she strikes a suitable assignment now. HUXHAM CHUBB (5) finished off best to score at Geelong two starts ago then took on stronger opposition when fifth at Terang last outing. She is racing in good form and is worth an investment. MUSSEL SHOALS (7) will appreciate a drop back in class for this assignment and she led throughout to score over Soho Playgirl on May 20 so she must be considered as a winning chance. ELATED (1) and OWEN THE SAINTS (4) are both capable of showing up without surprising.
EARLY SPEED: 6 (possible early leader), 1,4
SELECTIONS: INTERPRETATION (6), HUXHAM CHUBB (5), MUSSEL SHOALS (7), OWEN THE SAINTS (4)
RATINGS: 6/ 5,7/ 4/ 1
SUGGESTED BET: INTERPRETATION (6) to win
Race 7:
OVERVIEW: WHERES WOOD WOOD (5) tends to perform best at his home track at Echuca and he led throughout to defeat Hand Writer three starts ago. He strikes a very suitable assignment now so he must be respected. FAVOURITEHIGHLIGHT (7) has a trailing draw behind FAKE CULLECTION (1), which is a fast beginner, so he should gain an economical run close to the speed. He scored comfortably at Kilmore on June 26 and this race is no harder. ARRAPS (8) has been racing below his best form but he will appreciate a drop back in class for this assignment so he can improve on his numerical form. FAKE CULLECTION (1) and SWEET EMMYLOU (2) are both fast beginners and have claims from their good draw.
EARLY SPEED: 1 (possible leader), 2,4,5
SELECTIONS: WHERES WOOD WOOD (5), FAVOURITEHIGHLIGHT (7), ARRAPS (8), FAKE CULLECTION (1)
RATINGS: 5/ 7/ 1,2,8/ 4
SUGGESTED BET: WHERES WOOD WOOD (5) each way
