Form Analysis by Darren Clayton
RACE ONE
After ten races on Friday night, how will the leaderboard look heading into the second night? Pete McMullen picked up FREE THINKER (7) as his second pick in the draft and he does look the class runner. Sharp when resuming with a 2138m victory, he had to work second up from a tricky gate. Can class beat map?
MOSSDALE TERRY (4) has been consistent but just seems to find a way to be defeated. Hitting the board in 22 of 28 here at The Creek, he can rev up early to get across them and with the options thereafter, can look to issue a challenge.
ROCKS OR DIAMONDS (1) was returning from a spell last start where he eased early before making good metres in the closing stages to score. With added fitness, he can feature.
MACH ASSASSIN (2) has some early hustle and might just be firing some early bullets. Chasing from the fence behind LUVBITE last start, he is in the mix.
SELECTIONS: FREE THINKER (7), MOSSDALE TERRY (4), ROCKS OR DIAMONDS (1), MACH ASSASSIN (2)
SUGGESTED BET: FREE THINKER (7) to win
RACE TWO
With every chance he is potentially snookered in the run, DELE ROW (8) will be requiring some favours at some stage from this gate. Too classy when resuming from a spell two starts back, he chased gamely last start for 3rd. In a race that does look to possess some solid tempo, he will be searching for the openings.
BRONSKI ZULU (4) covered plenty of the track last start when sent around them from the second line. Working hard in the run, his effort was full of merit when only a half-neck from the dictating OUR MAJOR DAY. From the gate he can get prominent to challenge.
JAMAICAN ROCK (5) has had the three starts since arriving in Qld, recording a pair of sharp wins on the front end and a tough 2nd when setting a sizzling mile. The big query is the middle trip where he is yet to post a W.
IRON CLAD (6) resumes from a spell after closing out his 3YO term with a 2nd in the Redcliffe Guineas behind BRONSKI ZULU. Runner-up to that same winner two starts back, he can join in fresh.
SELECTIONS: DELE ROW (8), BRONSKI ZULU (4), JAMAICAN ROCK (5), IRON CLAD (6)
SUGGESTED BET: DELE ROW (8) to win
RACE THREE
In career best form with three wins and four placings in seven starts for the year, LUVBITE (8) will be securing the perfect trip from this gate. A winner from the trail three back, he did it in front last start. With the chance to follow the speed, he can be poised and ready to strike.
OUR MAJOR DAY (1) made the most of the gate here two starts back to take them all the way and post a career PB with the victory. Strong to the line here on Tuesday when 2nd to SHEZA BONNY SHEILA, he has the gate to dictate and will be looking to stave off the challengers.
ARODA (7) is the class runner but has the map against him from the carpark. Eased from a wide gate and then racing against tempo behind CAPTAIN SHUFFLES last start, he has podium claims.
Economics could prove to be the difference in this series and BRETTS RED (9) might just highlight that fact. With the chance to drop to a three-fence spot, he can be chiming in.
SELECTIONS: LUVBITE (8), OUR MAJOR DAY (1), ARODA (7), BRETTS RED (9)
SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-7-8-9
RACE FOUR
Just the small field of six with the early scratching where fresh up, DEUS EX (4) might just be able to make full use of the conditions. With good speed off the arm, he can look to press forward and bringing an impressive trial hit out into his first up run, he can stake a claim.
DANGERZONE (1) has some less than impressive numbers next to his name, however his efforts have been far better than what the figures represent. Slammed with gate 7 when chasing FOR REAL LIFE last start, sectionally the effort was pleasing, and the economical trip is a plus.
JIMARTEE (6) returns from a spell following his last start when tackling the Inter Dominion Final. A wide gate when down the line behind DON HUGO, he was runner-up to the Series winner in a heat the week prior. Opening the pipes with a handy trial, he can throw it down.
SELECTIONS: DEUS EX (4), DANGERZONE (1), JIMARTEE (6)
SUGGESTED BET: DEUS EX (4) to win
RACE FIVE
Overcoming a tricky gate and the 2138 to score three starts back, RISK TAKER (3) has been runner-up in both subsequent runs. Nailed on the line by MOOPS when leading every step, bar the one that counted, he was then only 1m from BETTTING ORIGIN. This looks within reach.
VINSANITY (6) was first up for the Donny Smith stable last start at Redcliffe when overcoming a wide gate to reel them in and pull clear for an 8m margin in smart time. Leading from a wide gate to score four starts back at Shepparton, he can look to defy the wide gate.
DENNY ROCKS (9) was second up in Qld last start when settled rearward from gate 10. Hitting the line in good order to grab the bronze behind BETTING ORIGIN, he can be joining in.
BONNIES CAM (8) has been sectionally impressive in recent performances without much in his favour. Buried two back after retreating, he will be searching for the gaps to feature.
SELECTIONS: RISK TAKER (3), VINSANITY (6), DENNY ROCKS (9), BONNIES CAM (8)
SUGGESTED BET: RISK TAKER (3) to win
RACE SIX
In three runs since arriving in the Sunshine State, THESUNANDTHEMOON (7) has impressed on each occasion. Recording a pair of wins and an eye-catching 4th from a tough gate, she will need to be at her best to defy the gate, but her performances suggest she is up to the task.
MIKI MAGIC (10) has faced second line gates at her past two starts, the latest when trying to make ground behind THESUNANDTHEMOON in a slick 27.2 close out in front. Runner-up to the airborne SHEZA BONNY SHEILA the start prior, she can issue the challenge.
SWEET MIRACLE (8) has been stung by wide gates in two runs back from a long spell where they have had to snag back for position. With the chance of a soft trip straight up, she can chime in.
MISS FROUFROU (1) has good arm hustle and can dart through early to dictate her position. Buried last start from inside the second line, she can be sharper here.
SELECTIONS: THESUNANDTHEMOON (7), MIKI MAGIC (10), SWEET MIRACLE (8), MISS FROUFROU (1)
SUGGESTED BET:
RACE SEVEN
In the quinella at five of his past eight starts, MOMENTUM SWING (2) can look to muster some early hustle to press forward. Powering up late to claim a qualifier five runs back, he pressed on to out muscle them two back on the front end. The gate helps the chances.
LIFE OF ART (6) was a first-round pick in the draft for the Triple Play Syndicate, with this 7YO making his Qld and Aus debut. Tackling NZ open company two back when at the rear behind MOUNGA, he has prepped with a slick trial and will be looking to issue the challenge.
COSMIC FLYER (5) capitalised with a Monday night victory at Redcliffe where he was able to sneak in for a confidence builder. Not that he was lacking confidence with a half-neck defeat and a pair of wins in his past three starts.
ROCLEA IMAGE (1) was the third horse picked up for Gath Racing at the draft, with the 6YO finishing rearward in two AP starts. A big gate improvement can be the catalyst for a sharper run.
SELECTIONS: MOMENTUM SWING (2), LIFE OF ART (6), COSMIC FLYER (5), ROCLEA IMAGE (1)
SUGGESTED BET: MOMENTUM SWING (2) to win
RACE EIGHT
With a mixed bag of results in three runs back from a spell, RYLEE RHAYNE BOW (8) will be requiring some mapping favours from this gate. Too strong in front two starts back, a tough trip when parked ended her chances last time. If the gap opens, she will take some stopping.
SWEET AGENDA (6) had the closing speed to descend on them for a smart win here three starts back and followed that with a bronze in open mars company when 7m from THESUNANDTHEMOON. Only 2m away last time, she can throw down the challenge.
AURORA JOY (10) possesses a strong finishing burst and if this can generate some good tempo, look for her steaming home over the top. Luckless last start, she is in the mix.
ALLNIGHT DANCER (2) was locked away behind the speed here last week from gate 1 and when the gap presented, darted through to score. Settling handy can see her in the mix.
SELECTIONS: RYLEE RHAYNE BOW (8), SWEET AGENDA (6), AURORA JOY (10), ALLNIGHT DANCER (2)
SUGGESTED BET: RYLEE RHAYNE BOW (8) to win
RACE NINE
Afforded no favours from the car park, ISLAND BOUHINIA (7) arrives from NSW off a last start second at Menangle where she was only a head from the winner. A Wagga winner two starts back when finding a way clear of the inside to score, she can cash in for The Iceman.
PET KITTY (10) pressed on last start to find the front and was trying to fend them off when collared up the passing lane. Chasing JAMAICAN ROCK the start prior, she was a winner at both prior outings and with the right trip can issue the challenge.
SHACKOUTTHEBACK (6) was second up from a spell last start when making some late metres for the bronze behind ALLNIGHT DANCER. A Redcliffe winner three back, added fitness will help.
LIMOUSINE CHEEKY (3) showed some early hustle to lead at Redcliffe three back and then last start also had an early look. Positioning cheaply can see her in the mix.
SELECTIONS: ISLAND BOUHINIA (7), PET KITTY (10), SHACKOUTTHEBACK (6), LIMOUSINE CHEEKY (3)
SUGGESTED BET:
RACE TEN
Will the Championship come down to the 20th and final heat? SKYGIRL (9) comes into the last heat off a victory when dominating an easier line up at Redcliffe with a 15m victory. Placed in all three prior runs, with the right trip, she can capitalise, and The Postman can deliver.
SHEER ARTISTRY (11) was first up from a spell when eased from gate 6 and never getting warm as JAMAICAN ROCK carved out a 52.3 mile on the front end. Her last 3YO outing was a 2m deficit behind ELLIS STREET and a return to her own sex can see her challenge.
FIREBOLT (8) will appreciate the economical trip and from this gate will be searching for the openings. Luckless last start after four successive placings, she will be probing.
JOANS RISING STAR (6) was runner-up to CHARGE AHEAD two starts back after settling in the 1x1 trail. Forced to park out last start, she can be thereabouts.
SELECTIONS: SKYGIRL (9), SHEER ARTISTRY (11), FIREBOLT (8), JOANS RISING STAR (6)
SUGGESTED BET: SKYGIRL (9) to win
