Form Analysis by Craig Rail
Race 1:
OVERVIEW: SWEET IDEAL (13) settled in a rearward position and produced a big finish when third (head) behind Surfingmakescents in a mile rate of 1.54.6 at her latest attempt. Considering the final quarter was recorded in a sizzling 27.4 seconds, her run was excellent and she should prove hard to beat despite the poor draw. THE IRON DUKE (12) is a versatile pacer that is ready to win against this class. He has come from a long way back at his past two runner up performances and was a winner in a mile rate of 1.56.3 at Melton on May 17. DANCE AFFAIR (9) has won two of his past four starts and he set up a hectic tempo when fourth behind the smart pacer Storms Collide at his latest attempt. This race is no harder and he is worth thought again. ALWAYS B BLAKEY (10) endured a tough run and had excuses at his latest attempt. His form prior was strong and he is worth another chance. UBETTA KNOT (7) is poorly drawn but his chances will be enhanced if he can get across and find the lead shortly after the start.
EARLY SPEED: 7 (possible leader), 3,4
SELECTIONS: SWEET IDEAL (13), THE IRON DUKE (12), DANCE AFFAIR (9), ALWAYS B BLAKEY (10)
RATINGS: 13/ 9,10,12/ 7/ 4,6,9
SUGGESTED BET: SWEET IDEAL (13) each way
Race 2:
OVERVIEW: ALOT LIKE LOUIE (9) progressed forward to race without cover and fought very hard when a brave second behind Perun at Bendigo last week. He is racing consistently and deserves to break through for a win. CRIME WRITER (1) trailed the leader and appeared to have his chance when fifth last outing. He has been a little below his best form recently but he appears to be very well graded in this event so a bold showing is expected. CLEAR LEFT (2) gained a nice trail and finished fifth (2m) behind Maxnjax in a good finish last week. He possesses early speed and is drawn to gain a nice trail just off the pace again so he is worth a ticket each way. PESCI (8) attempted to lead throughout when third at Bendigo last week. He has been placed at his past three attempts against similar grade and should gain an economical run on the markers throughout so he should run his usual honest race.
EARLY SPEED: 2 (possible leader), 1,3,4
SELECTIONS: ALOT LIKE LOUIE (9), CRIME WRITER (1), CLEAR LEFT (2), PESCI (8)
RATINGS: 9/ 1,2/ 8/ 5/ 4,7,11/ FIELD
SUGGESTED BET: ALOT LIKE LOUIE (9) to win
Race 3:
OVERVIEW: HES FROM HEAVEN (4) produced some amazing final sectionals to come from last in a final quarter of 27.1 seconds to finish fourth behind Yambukian last week. He is a versatile pacer and looms as one of the leading chances again. KEAYANG TOKYO (8) appeared to be a little unlucky last week when he was shuffled back on the markers, got held up for a run at a vital stage and sliced through late for second. He has the same awkward draw tonight but can win with a little more luck in running. DEE ROE (9) used inside runs but he did pick up a lot of ground when fourth at Melton two weeks ago. He is a capable 4yo pacer and is worth a ticket each way. FIGHTER COMMAND (7) is versatile and continues to improve on his consistent record. He has claims along with YOUNG BLUEY (3), which is a chance of finding the lead in the early stages.
EARLY SPEED: 3 (possible leader), 2,4,7
SELECTIONS: HES FROM HEAVEN (4), KEAYANG TOKYO (8), DEE ROE (9), FIGHTER COMMAND (7)
RATINGS: 4,8/ 9/ 7/ 3/ 6
SUGGESTED BET: HES FROM HEAVEN (4) to win
Race 4:
OVERVIEW: LE BELLE BIJOUX (1) took on the open class pacers last week and produced an honest display in a sizzling mile rate of 1.52.5. She may be headed off at the start but this is a much easier race and she is racing well enough to figure prominently. GHOST OF TIME (6) worked extremely hard to find the lead in a first quarter of 26.9 seconds so he had excuses when resuming last week. He would have benefited from the outing and this is an easier assignment so he should give a bold showing. SURFINGMAKESCENTS (2) was resuming since November and was going into her race without a trial when a big winner over Wings On The Line at Melton two weeks ago. This is a race of more depth but she is very talented and should go well again from her good draw. FRUGAL FARE (9) was very heavily supported but broke stride 100m after the start when contesting the lead and lost his chance last outing. He boasts a good strike rate and is worth thought along with LOUIE LOU I (5), which finished off nicely first up.
EARLY SPEED: 6 (likely leader), 2,4
SELECTIONS: LE BELLE BIJOUX (1), GHOST OF TIME (6), SURFINGMAKESCENTS (2), FRUGAL FARE (9)
RATINGS: 1/ 2,6/ 5,9/ 3
SUGGESTED BET: LE BELLE BIJOUX (1) each way
Race 5:
OVERVIEW: VERA LANE (1) led out then took cover when a convincing winner over IJUSTCALLEDTOSAY (7) at Melton last outing. She adopted the same tactics when she scored at Bendigo prior and she is perfectly drawn to suit her racing pattern so she must be respected. SKY FLAIR (4) came from a long way back and produced a big finish to score at Melton last week. She has had three wins and three seconds from six starts since resuming and she is very versatile so she is worth thought again. IJUSTCALLEDTOSAY (7) won at his first three attempts prior to racing greenly in the leading role and finishing second at his latest attempt. He is still learning but he has a lot of ability and is worth an investment. VYTIS (10) never really appeared to be comfortable and eventually broke stride with 700m remaining when unplaced first up. He was performing extremely well at the trials prior and is worth another chance.
EARLY SPEED: 1 (likely early leader), 3,4,5,6,7
SELECTIONS: VERA LANE (1), SKY FLAIR (4), IJUSTCALLEDTOSAY (7), VYTIS (10)
RATINGS: 1/ 4,7/ 9,10/ 5,6
SUGGESTED BET: VERA LANE (1) each way
Race 6:
OVERVIEW: GOTFEELINGSYOUKNOW (4) produced a bold front running display when he scored comfortably in a mile rate of 1.56.9 two starts ago then followed with a brave second behind the smart filly Jilliby Ballerini (won again since) on July 05. He is drawn to find the lead over the sprint distance and will take catching. REMUS PHOENIX (5) looms as the logical danger. He finished boldly for second behind GOTFEELINGSYOUKNOW (4) two starts ago then made up many lengths in the home straight when third behind Jilliby Ballerini at his latest attempt. SEBASTIANS BOY (9) was able to get away safely, settled on the markers and burst through the middle late when a big winner at Melton last week. This is a race of more depth but he has too much ability to dismiss. JAZSPUR (8) prefers to race close to the pace so she is awkwardly drawn but she will appreciate a slight drop back in class for this assignment and she should be running home well at the end.
EARLY SPEED: 4 (likely leader), 1
SELECTIONS: GOTFEELINGSYOUKNOW (4), REMUS PHOENIX (5), SEBASTIANS BOY (9), JAZSPUR (8)
RATINGS: 4,5/ 9/ 8/ 2,3,6
SUGGESTED BET: GOTFEELINGSYOUKNOW (4) to win
Race 7:
OVERVIEW: ALWAYS DANCING (6) commenced from the outside of the second line, made a lightning dash around the field to find the lead and was run down over the latter stages when third behind Thestatesman last week. He has been placed at his past nine starts (5 wins) and drops back to racing against his own age group this evening so he must be respected. CROCODILE SOCKS (4) continues to build on his consistent record and appears to be the likely leader. He pushed forward to find the lead and fought on strongly for third behind Cigano and ALWAYS DANCING (6) at his latest attempt. MY ULTIMATE BARNEY (8) performed below expectations ($1-90 fav) at his latest sixth but he won at his two attempts prior and should be competitive against this line up. RUFF NUT (1) and IN AN IDEAL WORLD (7) are both worth thought in multiple combinations.
EARLY SPEED: 4 (likely leader), 6,7
SELECTIONS: ALWAYS DANCING (6), CROCODILE SOCKS (4), MY ULTIMATE BARNEY (8), RUFF NUT (1)
RATINGS: 6/ 4/ 8/ 1,7/ 2
SUGGESTED BET: ALWAYS DANCING (6) to win
Race 8:
OVERVIEW: IM BOBBY (7) is racing in career best form and should go well again despite the poor draw. He recorded a sensational mile rate of 1.53.9 when he won at Melton two starts ago then travelled up to Menangle last week and scored effortlessly. PLYMOUTH CHUBB (4) was placed five times in succession prior to working hard and finishing seventh behind the Inter Dominion aspirant Arcee Phoenix at Melton. This is his easiest assignment for some time so he gets his chance to break through for a win. MUFASA METRO (2) was resuming since February when unplaced behind Arcee Phoenix on June 21. He will be fitter from that run and is drawn to find the lead again so he will take catching if he can return to his peak form. ALDEBARAN VERA (3) had her chance after leading last week but she met a smart one and is capable of filling a place again. IMPERIAL MONARCH (5) and ALDEBARAN ZEUS (6) are also capable of showing up without surprising.
EARLY SPEED: 2 (likely leader), 4,6,7
SELECTIONS: IM BOBBY (7), PLYMOUTH CHUBB (4), MUFASA METRO (2), ALDEBARAN VERA (3)
RATINGS: 7/ 2,4/ 3,6/ 5/ 1
SUGGESTED BET: Trifecta 2,4,7/ 2,4,7/ 2,3,4,5,6,7 (Cost $30)
