Redcliffe, Wednesday 9 July

RACE 1

BELL RIVER BOY (4) has good gate speed and might be able to keep pushing in this race until he finds the top. He was very good in defeat two starts ago when running a fast first half for the grade this track. If he can find the top he would be very hard to catch.

ROLLING BONUS (2) comes into this race third up from a spell following a solid effort last start at this track after starting from a wide gate. He has drawn better in this race and might have the early speed to dictate.

MONSIEUR DELACOUR (7) starts inside the back row which looks awkward given he follows out a horse that is likely to be longer odds. He got a good run on the peg last start in a strong race but was badly held up before hitting the line well once clear.

B MAC C (9) won impressively last start after sitting off a strong tempo there at this track. He will need the race to be run in a similar way to figure from this draw.

SELECTIONS: BELL RIVER BOY (4), ROLLING BONUS (2), MONSIEUR DELACOUR (7), B MAC C (9)

SUGGESTED BET:  BELL RIVER BOY (4) to win.

RACE 2

JIVE MASTER (2) was a good winner five starts ago when sitting on the back of Cyclone Tony and winning up the sprint lane. He was good again last start when finishing nicely up the sprint lane again and was just beaten by Ima Beach Babe who had the momentum down the outside in what was just a dash home. He has good gate speed and looks the most likely leader in the race.

BOLD MEDLEY JUJON (6) sat without cover last start outside of Jaccka Cooper over the 2040 at this track and battled away strongly for second there. He seems to be racing back into form and may be suited by the step back to the 1780 in this race. He may be left to do the work again in this race from the wide gate.

SO MANY MONENTS (4) has been in good for having strung together a number of recent placings. She is often left to do the work and is never far away at this track. She may be better suited to racing over the 2040 than the 1780 but should be in the finish again with the right run.

OCTOBER RACKETEER (7) looked well suited by the peg line draw in this race where he won’t need to do any work in the early stages. He was a last start winner when closing off strongly and should be running on again if the gaps appear at the right time.

SELECTIONS: JIVE MASTER (2), BOLD MEDLEY JUJON (6), SO MANY MONENTS (4), OCTOBER RACKETEER (7)

SUGGESTED BET: JIVE MASTER (2) to win.

RACE 3

ROCK NIEN (1) hasn’t led for some time but does look to have found a suitable race to hold the lead here. The last time he was able to lead at this track and trip he was able to score over Cote Dazur. His recent efforts he has drawn poorly in strong races and hasn’t been suited.

LA DERNIERE (3) is having her first start for a new stable of Donny Smith which may see her a significant improver. She has been quite good for a race of this level in recent outings which have appeared much tougher races. She draws somewhat awkwardly in gate 3 with plenty of gate speed underneath so will need to be well driven in the early stages.

IDEAL ASSASSIN (8) trialled nicely recently running a fast last half to beat the classy Calling Buddy by 9.8 metres. She draws to follow out a gate speed horse and shouldn’t be too far away in the run. Can figure if the race if run to suit.

AZOR AHAI (7) was much improved at Marburg on Sunday when stepping to the lead and being narrowly beaten by One Last Roll. This race does look tougher but he should get a good run through at the start.

SELECTIONS: ROCK NIEN (1), LA DERNIERE (3), IDEAL ASSASSIN (8), AZOR AHAI (7)

SUGGESTED BET: ROCK NIEN (1) to win.

RACE 4

STUDLEIGH MARK (2) has good gate speed and looks likely to find the front in this race. He generally does his best work out in front and has won a majority of his races in that position. He was unsuited last start when getting back in what became a dash home.

GO THE RED (9) was forced to do all the work last start at this track over the 2040 and wasn’t beaten far. He draws outside the back row this time and may need to do work again at some stage in this race.

MERRY JEWEL (1) appeared to be somewhat unlucky last start when the horse she was following in the race got tired and she lost momentum. She has seemingly been an improver each time in recent efforts and draws favourably again in this race.

ROCK IT BABY (5) hit the line strongly from a long way back his last two starts. His run two starts ago behind Firebolt was impressive rating good time for the grade after sustaining a long run wide on the track.

SELECTIONS: STUDLEIGH MARK (2), GO THE RED (9), MERRY JEWEL (1), ROCK IT BABY (5)

SUGGESTED BET: STUDLEIGH MARK (2) to win.

RACE 5

SIX TIMES A LADY (1) looks to get a good opportunity to lead in this race from the inside gate at the 2040 start point. Last time she led she was able to score in Division B of a Mares Qualifying race on a Saturday night in solid time for the grade.

PRINCE JOY (7) he looks to have landed a good draw in this race to follow out a gate speed horse. He ran a good second two starts ago behind Getagrip at Albion Park. He looks very well graded in this company on some of his better efforts and should be hard to hold out late.

MADAM WEST (8) was a winner five starts ago closing best to score in a very slowly run race. She has since been thereabouts no further back than fifth in her following four starts. She appears suited from this draw following out Pink Champagne which is a horse that generally likes to hold a forward position in her races.

MILLIEWOOD (10) closed from a long way back last start run second to Dipped In Silver in a race that appeared to suit horses running on. She draws poorly again in this race and will need the race run to suit.

SELECTIONS: SIX TIMES A LADY (1), PRINCE JOY (7), MADAM WEST (8), MILLIEWOOD (10)

SUGGESTED BET: SIX TIMES A LADY (1) to win.

RACE 6

MY ULTIMATE FELIX (2) has been costly to follow in recent starts having made a break in his last three starts. He trialled reasonably recently at Albion Park in a trial they ran a decent last half for this type of grade. He draws the best of the main chances in this race and if he can run to the lead he would be hard to catch.

THUNAMENTAL (9) has been taking on slightly stronger races than this one in his two latest outings. He was a solid fourth three starts ago from gate 1 at Albion Park. He generally does his best work out in front so doesn’t look ideally suited in this race drawn on the back row.

GHOST TRAIN (8) hit the line strongly last start when getting a long way back in the run. He was only beaten a length in a recent stand start trial behind the much higher assessed Elegant Grooves at Marburg in what was an impressive effort.

MACS A DUDE (6) followed Wehavtime last start at this track and wasn’t quite able to run that horse down late but they did dash home a quick last half for the night and grade. He draws wide and will need the race run to suit here.

SELECTIONS: MY ULTIMATE FELIX (2), THUNAMENTAL (9), GHOST TRAIN (8), MACS A DUDE (6)

SUGGESTED BET:

RACE 7

GALVARINO (1) has good gate speed and looks the likely leader in the race. He has been racing well since joining the stable of Chloe Butler without having been able to break through for a win. His effort when narrowly beaten two starts ago after sitting in the breeze was good enough to be competitive in this race.

SPORTS BOUNTY (5) trialled impressively in a recent trial behind Eye Keep Smiling when beaten just 41.7 metres. He hasn’t had a lot of starts at this track for a horse having his 275th start in this race but he has previously had success albeit in slow time at the track. He is capable of doing the work in this type of grade and should be hard to beat.

MAJOR TRALEE (8) is a long way down in grade on some of his better efforts. He got a long way back in a race they zipped home a fast last half for the grade before making a break and being well beaten. He would appreciate a solid tempo in this race and can be running on late.

DONT FEAR FOR ME (2) was a winner four starts ago when running on over the to. He has since taken on stronger races including last start when not beaten too far by Arendelle at Albion Park.

SELECTIONS: GALVARINO (1), SPORTS BOUNTY (5), MAJOR TRALEE (8), DONT FEAR FOR ME (2)

SUGGESTED BET: SPORTS BOUNTY (5) to win.

RACE 8

EBONY BELLE (4) has very good early speed and might be able to work across into the lead in this race which would give her every chance. She wasn’t beaten far two starts ago after starting from a wide gate behind The Blue Wren in fast enough time to take out a race of this nature.

GOTTA DREAM (5) was a dominant winner three starts ago when leading all of the way at Marburg. He then drew wide at Marburg and couldn’t get into the race there when the winner dashed home a fast last half. He is likely to be hard to hold out late if the race is run to suit.

MATAI REACTOR (7) appears to draw awkwardly inside the back row in this race following out a horse that is likely to go around one of the longest price runners. He was well beaten last start but was doing his best work late in a much stronger race taken out by Jazzmin.

HOIHO (9) has been racing consistently. He hit the line strongly two starts ago to run second behind Geldof in a similar level race to this one.

SELECTIONS: EBONY BELLE (4), GOTTA DREAM (5), MATAI REACTOR (7), HOIHO (9)

SUGGESTED BET: GOTTA DREAM (5) each way.

RACE 9

EYE SEE THESEASIDE (6) the sister of the country’s top mare Eye Keep Smiling made an impressive debut last start at this track sitting without cover and drawing away late to score. She is likely to be better for that outing and can work forward and take up a prominent position in this race.

WEE BONNIE (1) has decent early speed giving her options early in the race. She was good last start behind Fly Burra at Marburg in a race they dashed home a good last half for the grade. If she can secure a good run this looks a race she can figure in the finish.

GLENEAGLE RULER (7) was made to work extremely hard last start to hold out an early challenge for the lead. He was able to battle on really well not to be beaten further in that race. He finds a race where he should do no work early and can be running on late if the gaps appear.

BLAZING TART (2) broke her maiden status last start with an all the way victory at this track. She draws outside of a horse with some gate speed so there is a query whether she can find the front again in this race.

SELECTIONS: EYE SEE THESEASIDE (6), WEE BONNIE (1), GLENEAGLE RULER (7), BLAZING TART (2)

SUGGESTED BET: EYE SEE THESEASIDE (6) to win.

RACE 10

CANTPLZA MALTEEZA (4) took on first up kiwi Sabala last start and was good in defeat running second after sitting without cover. He appears to land in a much weaker race here and looks the one to beat.

MACK ATTACK (3) was narrowly beaten by Eye See Theseaside last start at this track after securing a good run just off the speed. He draws to advantage over ley rivals in this race and appears to have some early speed.

AZZIF (6) was a good third two starts ago when sitting without cover at this track. She then drew poorly last start and couldn’t get into the race behind Sabala. She draws poorly again in this race and will need a few things to go her way to figure in this race.

NITRATOR (7) has taken on much stronger races in his two career starts so far and hasn’t been beaten far on either occasion. He draws awkwardly inside the back row but with any luck he should be running on late.

SELECTIONS: CANTPLZA MALTEEZA (4), MACK ATTACK (3), AZZIF (6), NITRATOR (7)

SUGGESTED BET: CANTPLZA MALTEEZA (4) to win.
