Campbelltown breeder-owner Dianne Trotta and her husband Lui have been regular purchasers at the South Australian yearling sales for more than 30 years.

The Group 2 Melton winner American Muscle and the Southern Cross and Golden Nursery placegetter Splash Of Paynt have been recent winners bought by the couple at the sales.

However, the Trotta’s will be vendors instead of buyers at the Australian Pacing Gold Adelaide Yearling Sale at Gawler on Sunday, March 29.

The couple has consigned a lovely Major Secret filly out of the eight-win Rock N Roll Heaven mare Mamma Kass as Lot 518.

“This is our first yearling we have offered at the sales,” Dianne said.

“We love Mamma Kass. She’s done really well for us.”

The first foal of her dam, the filly is being sold as part of the clearance of horses from their property.

Mamma Kass, who they bought from Victorian horseman and long-time friend Dr Hugh Cathels, is a member of one of the most prolific families in the Australian trotting stud book.

She is a half-sister to six 2:00 winners and four $100,000 earners including the Victorian ‘Cups King’ and successful sire Safari ($535,000), the Derby winner Astronaut ($264,000) and the Vicbred champion Our Maid Marianne.

Other ‘black type’ performers from this line include Zeuss Bromac, Garnet River (1:50), Don’t Hold Back, Queen Of Fire and The Godine Machine.

“She’s an intelligent filly and a beautiful mover,” Dianne said.
