Triedtotellya wins 2025 Ladbrokes Tasmanian Horse of the Year

Triedtotellya has been named the Ladbrokes Horse of the Year at the annual awards and Hall of Fame dinner in Hobart on Friday night.

Trained by Rohan Hillier and owned and bred by the Howlett family, Triedtotellya won eight of his nine starts in 2025, including feature wins in the Easter Cup and the Tassie Golden Apple.

In other awards, Arrhythmia was named the Tasmanian Trotting Club 2YO Filly of the Year, Solo Safari won the Medical Edge Tasmanian 2YO Colt or Gelding of the Year, Barbary Tales was awarded the Launceston Pacing Club 3YO Filly of the Year and Horatius Speculo won the Cor Comms Tasmanian 3YO Colt or Gelding of the Year.

Ballroom Belle won the Faithful Park Broodmare of the Year Award, Stepping Stones was the Burnie Harness Racing Club Tasmanian Mare of the Year and Triedtotellya won the Vizpix Tasmanian 4YO & Older Horse of Gedling of the Year.

The leading trainer was Wayne Yole (145 wins), the leading female trainer was Tammy Langley (107 wins) and the Leading Driver was Dylan Ford (84 wins). It was the first premiership for Dylan Ford, while both Langley and Yole won the same categories last year. Jordan Chibnall was the state’s leading female and junior driver with 63 wins.

David Mace, a former Clerk of the Course, was inducted into the Hall of Fame. Mace started clerking at Elphin in 1974 and retired in 2018 at age 80. He served the harness racing industry as Clerk of Course at Elphin, Ulverstone, St Marys, Carrick, Devonport, Scottsdale and Spreyton, as well as at three Interdominions.

The Edgar Tatlow medal for an outstanding contribution to Tasmanian harness racing went to David Rawlings. Rawlings joined the Burnie Harness Racing Club committee in 1976 and is still an active member. He is a long-term active participant in many aspects of Tasmanian harness racing, including ownership, breeding, training, driving and administration.
