Egmont Park Stud is regarded as one of Australia’s leading standardbred nurseries and has been breeding champions for four generations, including four Australian Pacing Gold winners.

Strong supporters of APG sales-race series since its inception, the Kevin and Kaye Seymour owned farm is offering two royally bred colts at the APG Queensland Yearling Sale to be held at Ipswich racecourse on Sunday, February 8.

Both are close relatives of past Australian Pacing Gold champions.

Lot 2, a colt by the dual Derby winner and top percentage sire Ohoka Punter, is the first foal out of the 1:54 Somebeachsomewhere mare Leander, whose dam, Lacey’s Legacy, is a half-sister to the APG 2YO Final winner Majestic Mach.

The 2YO and 3YO Pacing Colt of the Year, Majestic Mach totted up 35 wins - nine at Group level – including the Queensland Derby, QBred Triad, Seymour Nursery and a heat of the Inter Dominion and banked a hefty $796,397.

“He’s a strongly built colt, is correct and has a great attitude,” studmaster Dale Forbes said.

The second half of the Egmont Park draft is Lot 37, a colt from the first crop of the US Breeders Crown and North America Cup winner and USA and Canadian 3YO Colt of the Year Pebble Beach.

Carrying a 3x4 cross to the great Artsplace, the colt is from the 100 percent producer Favourite Miss, an Art Major mare out of the blue hen Faith Prevails, who left 11 individual winners including the ‘black type’ performers Fame Assured, Frankie Rocks and Feel The Faith.

The colt’s first three dams have left 22 foals for 20 winners with 15 in 2:00 and six $100,000 earners – rather a notable breeding record.

“He’s a nice sized colt with a great attitude and is from a great family,” Forbes stated.

Both colts trace back to the taproot Lady Antrim, who has been responsible for the APG champions Tims A Trooper (2022), Class To The Max (2022), Majestic Mach (2012) and Masked Crusader (1997).
