There are just three yearlings by new US boom sire Summa Cum Laude in the APG sales next year – two colts and a filly at the 2026 APG Melbourne Yearling Sale on February 15, 2026.

Summa Cum Laude, a handsome son of the all-conquering Somebeachsomewhere, has launched his sire career in stunning fashion in the US, with more than 30 2YO winners – including brilliant filly Shacarri (1.51.2, $186K), I’llbetyourboots (1.51.8, $165K), When Is Parade (1.53.4, $138K) and Laude Da (1.53.8, $128K).
Summa Cum Laude is 10th on the US 2YO money winning sires list – ahead of super sires Always B Miki (16th) and Bettors Delight (17th) – with earnings of $1.5 million and looks certain to take out the US first season sire award for 2025.

His race record is equally impressive. He won $480,000 as a 2YO and dead-heated with Perfect Sting in the 2YO colts Breeders Crown final in 2020.
His dam, Western Graduate, won 54 races and $1.3 million in stakes. She has produced five winners from six foals, including tough campaigner Im Some Graduate (1.49, $860K), a full brother to Summa Cum Laude.

The first colt to go under the hammer in Melbourne is Lot 103, out of beautifully bred Artplace mare Jilliby Pleasure.
The colt’s grandam, Jilliby Flame, is by the immortal Fake Left and is a half sister to eight winners, including Jilliby Spirit (1.50.2, $495K), G1 Queen of the Pacific winner Jilliby Gold (1.59, $183K) and tough campaigner Jilliby Lightning (1.57.2, $115K).

The filly (Lot 171) is out of Dancing Silhouette, who is from the incredibly prolific Indigenous/Black Debate family.

And the last colt (Lot 175) is an all-American bred yearling out of Fromtheotherside.

Pedigrees are available via our online catalogue. It would pay to check out these youngsters before the sale.

Summa Cum Laude Frozen Semen is available exclusively from Tourello Standardbreds.
Service Fee: $5,000 Inc. GST and HRA stallion levy
