Harness Racing New South Wales (HRNSW) conducts the commercial and regulatory functions of the harness racing industry in NSW. Operating under the Harness Racing Act 2009, HRNSW is chartered to operate autonomously of government in managing the strategic and commercial development of harness racing in NSW as a not-for-profit corporate body.

Harness Racing NSW (HRNSW) is seeking a Grounds and Maintenance Attendant to be based at Paceway Tamworth in Taminda.

This position is responsible for providing maintenance of the grounds, and in particular the race track surface.

Reporting to the Facilities Manager, the incumbent will have experience working in agricultural, racing or horticulture and the ability to operate machinery without supervision.

This role will also require cleaning and maintenance of common areas, and grounds-keeping (including mowing and gardening), basic vehicle/machinery maintenance and upkeep and general repairs.

The role will have regular contact with Harness Racing participants, outside contractors and Harness Racing NSW. Therefore the applicant is required to have a high level of communication and a demonstrated ability to engage with a variety of different entities.

A full-time position exists for a Grounds and Maintenance Attendant located in Tamworth.

Reporting to the Paceway Tamworth Facilities Manager and Harness Racing NSW. The successful applicant will be required to undertake the following tasks:

  • Operate and maintain machinery under general supervision;
  • Undertake track curation, preparation and maintenance
  • Apply fertilizers, fungicides, herbicides and insecticides under general supervision;
  • General gardening duties;
  • Clean gutters, drains and culverts;
  • Perform routine maintenance;
  • Provide attendant duties at the track;
  • Perform non-trade tasks incidental to the role;
  • Assist lessees as and when required
  • Undertake any other function of the Training Centre as directed.

Experience

  • Experience in agriculture, horticulture or equine.
  • Demonstrated experience in facility maintenance or grounds-keeping;
  • An understanding of Workplace, Health and Safety Requirements.

Qualifications & Licenses

  • Valid licences for motor vehicle and truck.

Desirable:

  • Chemical Handling Certification.
  • Experience with horses

Additional:

  • Some paid out of usual business hours and on call work may be required
  • Undertake relevant and appropriate multi-functional duties as required.
  • Possession of a current NSW Driver’s Licence is essential.
