CONFIDENCE is high within the Stockman Peter camp ahead of Saturday night's Strathalbyn Trotters' Cup at Globe Derby.
A recent winner of Mount Gambier's flagship event, Stockman Peter was then runner-up to 'Cups King' Regal Attire in the Hambletonian Cup a fortnight ago.
On that occasion Regal Attire shrugged off a 30-metre backmark to score by three-and-a-half metres after Stockman Peter began from the 10-metre line.
This time around Stockman Peter remains on 10 metres, with Regal Attire pushed back to a 40-metre handicap.
As such, trainer David Phillips is confident the son of Used To Me can reverse the finishing order.
"Although he has had a few starts I'm not overly hard on him on the training track, so he needed the hit out," Phillips said. "The run did him the world of good and he will strip pretty fit for this.
"Last time we did all the work outside the leader and gave Regal Attire the trail home, and I'd say if you change the positions, you would change the result as well.
"This time Regal Attire is giving us an extra 10 metres and the race is shorter, which gives him less time to get settled in.
"There is no doubt even from 40 Regal Attire is the one to beat, but I reckon we can do it."
