Eight-year-old gelding Bold Centurian claimed his tenth career win when claiming the Ian Wright Memorial (2180m) at the last meeting of the summer season in Burnie on Friday night.

After galloping early, driver Brodie Davis was able to get the pacer back into a pace quickly to settle behind the leader, Dazzle Me, who appeared to bowl along in the lead.

Brodie made his move near the 400m on the $6 chance, where he was able to go on and score by two metres over Dazzle Me, with Believe In Forever a further 5.8m away third in 2:03.2s.

“The first couple of strides he skips, and then he hits his straps, and always goes forward and gets up on the speed, and when you get a race like that one where nothing is outside him, he thinks he is travelling and goes good.

“Every win with him is always a bonus,” said trainer Steven Davis.

“We had a bit of trouble with him with a bad quarter crack, and Brodie shod him up and welded up a shoe similar to what he had seen when he spent time at Jess Tubbs and Greg Sugars stable in Victoria.

The win was the second leg of a double for Brodie, who had earlier in the night won on Sweet Amour ($11) for trainer Paul Carlson.

Also recording driving doubles on the card were Nathan Ford with Ranieri ($3.30) and Whatta Good Reason ($13), along with Gareth Rattray, who also recorded multiple wins, scoring with Hazewillrev ($1.60 fav) and Soulwriter ($9.50).
