It is always interesting to watch new sires emerge. There are three stallions in the 2025 APG Perth Yearling Sale who will have their first crops of 2YOs on Australian tracks this season - Interdominion winner Ultimate Sniper, US hall of famer Tall Dark Stranger and smart US 2YO Captain Ahab.
Our first prime prospect in part two is the only colt by Ultimate Sniper in the sale.
Lot 354 (Vendor John Rogers & Giselle Rogers)
This colt combines the classic bloodlines of Bettors Delight, through his sire Ultimate Sniper, and Art Major, from his dam’s sire Renaissance Man.
He is the first foal of his dam, Addysin (1.58.3, $19K), who showed an outstanding turn of foot on the track, winning 4 races from 21 starts.
Second dam Kanata Queen (1.57.5, $77K) was a smart 2YO, winning twice and finishing second in the G1 APG fillies sales classic and the G1 fillies Westbred final.
She won three races as a 3YO and was placed in the Dainty’s Daughter classic.
She has left three winners, including the striking colt Northern Gaze (1.55.3, $38K), who won five races as a 3YO.
Third dam Shes Royalty (1.58.1, $288K) won the G2 WA APG fillies sales classic and was runner-up in the G1 $300,000 national final at Geelong in 2003.
Ultimate Sniper won three heats and the final of the 2019 Interdominion final. His first crop of 36 2YOs hit the track this season.
His handsome son Nite Sniper has impressed in early trials. He’s bred on a similar cross as this colt, being out of an Art Major mare.
Lot 378 (Vendor – Kaden Elliott & Janet Elliott)
This filly stands out, not just for her imposing looks and solid pedigree, she also has a striking blaze that will be instantly recognisable to all race followers.
She is a daughter of boom sire Always B Miki from regally bred Mach Three mare Three Stars, who is from the all-conquering Tabella Beth family that includes Lazarus ($4.1M) and Spirit Of st Louis ($1.4M).
Her second dam, Star Of Tonight, is a half sister to superstar pacer Stars And Stripes (1.52.8, $805K), who won five Group 1 classics as a 3YO - the NZ Derby, NSW Derby, Victoria Derby, NZ Northern Derby and NZ Sires Stakes.
He was named 2000 NZ and Aust 3YO pacer of the year and went on to win 25 races in the US.
Another half brother, Light And Sound (1.50.4, $563K) was named NZ 2YO pacer of the year in 2002 after winning the G1 NZZ Sires Stakes and three Group 2 classics in his juvenile year.

Always B Miki horses like WA tracks. Four of his top six Australian earners are WA trained – top earner Tricky Miki ($566K), second top Mr Smartee ($555K), WA Oaks winner Taking The Miki ($382K) and The Miki Taker ($300K).
He has produced some outstanding fillies out of Mach Three mares, including G1 victor Joyful (1.54.6, $207K), Cheer Leader (1.52.5, $186K) and WA’s own Montana Glory (1.55.2, $131K).
Lot 403 (Vendor – Robert Auber, Wade Ward & Mark Wilson)
This colt is by megastar sire Art Major from tough race mare Madame Meilland (1.55, $147K).
We all saw how good Madame Meilland was on track. She won three 3YO races in Victoria before her arrival in WA, where she blossomed into a mares free-for-all competitor.
She won five of her first eight starts in WA, including a city class race at Gloucester Park in December 2017.
The following season, she took out the G2 $50,000 Empress Stakes against the best mares in the state. In all, she notched up 12 wins and 20 placings.
This is her second foal.
