A busy weekend of racing for Mark Yole who has a full book of drives at both this weekend’s meetings.
The Burnie Cup will feature on Sunday afternoon at the picturesque Wivenhoe Showgrounds where Mark will take the reins on Rubins Plight.
Yole comments on each of his drives below.
Hobart 17 January
Race 1 – Yappas Courage: Good winner a few starts ago from a good sit. Could be a good chance here.
Race 2 – Major Lester: Going very well lately. With a cold sit will be right in the finish again.
Race 3 – Arden Roanoke: Loves the distance, ideal draw and with a nice run should be right in this race.
Race 4 – Keayang Fitzy (Best of the night): Lovely horse. If he can step away safely, he will be very hard to beat. The start is the key.
Race 5 – Kerala Star: Going very well lately. The draw is horrendous, with some luck in running he will be a great chance.
Race 6 – Bold Cowboy: First up in the state. He has been racing in country NSW; form looks okay without being outstanding. Processes good gate speed and likes to lead in his races. From this draw I will drive with a sit and hope there is pace up front. Could work into the race.
Race 7 – B K Windermere: Great to breakthrough last time. She almost threw it away in the home straight when laying in. This race is harder but if I’m able to get across early she should be thereabouts again.
Burnie 19 January
Race 1 – Justify: I thought he was good two starts ago in much stronger company than he meets here. Last start was disappointing when not given much chance. Poor draw here but could figure if things go his way.
Race 2 – Lalibela: Trailing draw here, and with Morris brown not possessing much gate speed I’m likely to be at least three back the pegs. Will need luck.
Race 3 – My Ultimate Jacko: Needs a cold sit and speed on to be figuring here.
Race 4 – Mach Angelo: A much better run last start when finished off well. Class horse of the field but draw makes it tough. If they go hard up front could be in the finish.
Race 5 – Whatta Good Reason (Best of the day): Loves the stand and the short distance. If pings away and leads, which I expect him to, he will be a great chance.
Race 6 – Rubins Plight: He has been disappointing since arriving in the state. Still learning the standing starts. Does have a good sprint but needs to improve to figure in the finish here.
Race 7 – Ranieri: Racing honestly, generally loves the stand and if happened to ping to the lead he would be right in the finish. If he doesn’t, still should be around the mark.
Race 8 – Dazzle Me: Last year’s cup winner. He has only been fair lately; however, he did win a race here in October when leading all the way. Use to fly the stand but hasn’t been beginning as well lately. If I can get him to lead, he could run a cheeky race.
