THIS is his best chance to win a big race.
That was the call from trainer Alan Cronin while discussing Saturday night's Southern Cross Final at Globe Derby.
Cronin will be represented by Hezrockinroyalty in the three-year-old colts' and geldings' division, with the promising youngster drawn to search for the lead from barrier three.
Successful in a heat last weekend, Hezrockinroyalty is the second elect in betting markets behind fellow heat winner and defending champion, No Notthebuttons.
Hezrockinroyalty led from gate four during last season's Final, with No Notthebuttons beating him by a half-head after racing in the 'death seat'.
A member of the all-powerful Emma Stewart stable, No Notthebuttons will begin from barrier six.
"Last year he led from six and we'll be going forward in search of the front again on Saturday night," Cronin said. "I think he has a massive opportunity and this is his best chance to win a big race.
"I'm pretty keen on his chances and am looking forward to him getting out there.
"No Notthebuttons beat us last year in the last stride, so it would be nice to turn it around, but Emma's record over in SA speaks for itself, so it won't be easy."
With no plans set for the gelding beyond the Final, Cronin stated he is likely to send Hezrockinroyalty for a spell.
"I expect he will go for a spell, but if he does, it won't be for long," Cronin said. "I'll see what is around for him early in the New Year and make a decision based on that."
