Applications for slots into Australasia’s richest 2YO harness racing event are now open.

The second running of the $500,000 Ladbrokes Protostar – restricted to 10 starters – will take centre stage as the marquee race on July 12, 2025, alongside the Inter Dominion’s second round of heats.

Slots have again been set at $30,000 (ex GST), with nine available for purchase. Ladbrokes, as the race sponsor, will receive the other slot.

Exclusively for two-year-olds, the $500,000 race will be run over 1660 metres at The Creek throughout the nation’s premier winter carnival, the Queensland Constellations.

The eight slots will be determined via two ballots as follows:

  • Three for Queensland located, individuals, businesses or syndicates: and,
  • Six for the remaining eligible applicants (including any unsuccessful Queensland located individuals, businesses or syndicates).

The first edition of the event was taken out by Fate Awaits for slot holder Ladbrokes and champion Queensland trainer Grant Dixon.

Applications close on December 16, 2024.
