HRNSW: Online Foal Notification

09 July 2024

Effective Thursday, 1 August 2024, Harness Racing NSW (HRNSW) will offer an online foal notification function for participants with an active HarnessWeb account to facilitate the registration of the 2024 foal crop (ie: foals born in late 2024 / early 2025).

This facility is being introduced by the various State Controlling Bodies as a means of streamlining the overall foal registration process, aiming to significantly reduce the volume of paperwork and manual processing traditionally associated with the registration of foals each year, to the mutual advantage of both participants and HRNSW.

Key function points:

  1. The notification function will be live as of the morning of Thursday, 1 August 2024;
  1. This functionality will be available to managing owners, individual owners and Studmasters only;
  1. To assist in the protection of the financial interests of the Studs, only online notifications where the service fee has been paid to the Stud will be approved at state level.  HRNSW will defer approval of foals associated with unpaid services until otherwise notified by the Stud;
  1. Only foals associated with the 2024 foal crop can be registered using the online notification function. Foals born in 2023 and earlier are to be referred to HRNSW as late notification fees may apply or breeding scheme eligibility impacted;
  1. The online notification facility additionally allows for managing owners, individual owners and Studmasters to record instances where the mare has slipped, missed, died in foal, or where the foal died at birth.

HRNSW recognises that not all participants will have a HarnessWeb account, or may not have the technology available to utilise the online notification facility (poor reception, lack of hardware, etc) thus, HRNSW have made physical Certificates of Service available to Studs for the 2024 foal crop, with participants requiring a paper copy being encouraged to contact the Stud to obtain a paper copy if necessary.

The ongoing availability of physical Certificates of Service will be reviewed by HRNSW in the lead up to the registration of the 2025 foal crop, therefore; it is recommended that those participants that are able to utilise HarnessWeb do so over the next twelve months.

A HarnessWeb account is easy to apply for and account approvals are generally done on a next business day basis:

  1. Click on the link to the right >>> HarnessWeb Logon Screen;
  2. Click on the Don’t have an account? link;
  3. Follow the screen prompts.

For existing users of HarnessWeb, an online tutorial is available in HarnessWeb that will assist in guiding you through the registration process (Please Click Here to access the tutorial) once the facility is activated on 1 August 2024.

For further inquiries in relation to the online notification facility, please contact the HRNSW Registrations & Futurities Team on 02 9722 6600 or by email registrations@hrnsw.com.au or futurities@hrnsw.com.au.
