Last weekend, two meetings were held in the state to kick off the Pacing For Pink campaign.

The Sunday meeting was in Hobart where Cool Water Paddy turned back the clock to win the Discretionary Handicap, while there was plenty of progressive talent in the winners list.

The weekend also saw trainer Wayne Yole take over the top of the state’s trainers’ premiership with 47 wins, from Ben Yole, 46, Tammy Langley, 29, Rohan Hillier, 14 and Michael Laugher, 10.

Rohan Hillier leads the state drivers premiership with 37 wins over Dylan Ford, 27, Robert Walters, 26, Ricky Duggan, 19 and Mark Yole, 18.

Other premiership leaders are:
Junior Drivers: Kayleb Williams and Olivia Weidenbach tied on 14,
Female Driver: Olivia Weidenbach, 14,
Female Trainer: Tammy Langley, 29.

This weekend, Launceston will host the sole meeting where the Launceston Mile is the feature race on the 10-race card.

The Stars

Cool Water Paddy– celebrated his 20th win in style when leading all the way to win the 2090m More Confidence Consulting Pace. Driver Rodney Ashwood took the Juanita McKenzie-trained pacer straight to the lead, where he defeated short-price favourite Magician by a neck. The mile rate of 1:59.7s was only 1.0s outside the track record.

Willrev’s – Craig Hayes and Gareth Rattray combined for a double in Hobart with two nice types. Hazewillrev justified his short quote to record his second win of the season prior to the debut win of the Two-Year-Old filly Oopswillrev, who is named after being accidentally purchased at an interstate yearling sale last year.

Iden Lady Lincoln – resumed for her first start as a 4YO, and she recorded a dominant first-up win by 7.7m in a restricted-win fillies and mares event. The win was the first of a weekend treble for driver Rohan Hillier, who has a 10-win lead on this season’s drivers title.

Royal Appointment – talented four-year-old pacer who recorded a 13.6m win in Launceston on Friday night, his sixth win of the season. The win was one of two on the night for trainer Michael Laugher, who sits fifth in the state trainers premiership.
