Gotfeelingsyouknow
INTER Dominion trotting runner-up Gotfeelingsyouknow takes his first steps towards a possible New Zealand raid at the Melton trials tomorrow (Tuesday).
In fact, all three entrants in the 2240m standing-start trial could be bound for NZ.
Gotfeelingsyouknow’s stablemate Lovemeto and David Miles’ star mare Rockinwithattitude will also line-up.
The trio haven’t raced since contesting the July 18 Inter Dominion final at Albion Park won by Gus. Rockinwithattitude ran fourth and Lovemeto was sixth.
Gotfeelingsyouknow was the revelation of the series with a win and a close second in his two heats before storming home for a close second in the final.
All three won heats of the Brisbane series.
Before any NZ plans, they will all target the Group 1 Bill Collins Sprint at Melton on October 17, a race now wide-open with the injury to last year’s winner Keayang Zahara.
While this is Rockinwithattitude’s second trial, it’s the first since Brisbane for the other pair.
“They’ll have this trial and another the week after, both standing starts to get practice in case they do go to NZ,” trainer Chris Svanosio said.
“I’m happy with them both, but it’s a bit hard to get a line on them at home.
“We’ll head towards the Bill Collins and that’ll be a guide as far as NZ goes.
“I’m mindful with both my horses that they have their niggles and you never know how they’ll last, but things seem good at the moment.
“I was thrilled how well Gotfeelingsyounow raced and kept backing in Brisbane because he’s got joint issues and the track was so hard.”
The $NZ500,000 Group 1 Dominion on NZ Cup Day (November 10) is the key NZ target for the trio.
Miles has flagged heading across earlier to take in the feature trotting race at the picturesque Kaikoura track on November 2 with Rockinwithattitude.
The option is also there for them to back up in the Group 1 NZ Trotting free-for-all three days after the Dominion.
