TAB Eureka favourite Loucasso has been scratched from today's Menangle trials.
Trainer-driver Seaton Grima didn't want to run the brilliant three-year-old on the wet track and has pivoted to Plan B.
"He's almost ready to go, so I'll take him back to Menangle Saturday night to work in between races," he said.
"That will be a week out from the Carousel heats, which works well."
Loucasso, who hasn't raced since winning the Group 2 Breeders Crown 2YO final at Melton last December, showed he was primed with a sparkling Newcastle trial win last Wednesday night.
The son of Sweet Lou zipped away under his own steam to win by 40.7m in a slick 1min52.5sec mile.
Loucasso's closing splits were sizzling at 53.7 and 26.6sec.
Such is the hype around the pacer, he is $2.80 favourite to become the first three-year-old to win the TAB Eureka in its new November 21 timeslot.
Three-year-olds Fox Dan, Hesitate and Go Miki went close when second, third and fourth respectively to Bay Of Biscay in last year's Eureka.
