TASMANIA’S best pacer Triedtotellya will not race again before the start of the Brisbane Inter Dominion series on July 4.
Trainer-driver Rohan Hillier said the injury-plagued star raced well fresh and would be best suited with a break between runs as he goes into three races in the space of 15 days.
Triedtotellya’s last start was an easy win in the Ladbrokes Launceston Mile on May 10.
That followed a frustrating Perth raid for the $1.25 million Nullarbor where Triedtotellya didn’t travel well and missed his main target.
He did tackle the Group 1 Fremantle Cup where luck eluded him and he hit the line full of running but with nowhere to go in seventh spot behind local star Magnificent Storm.
“The Inter Dominion has always been the plan and nothing happened in Perth to deter us,” Hillier said.
“It was good to get him back home after that trip and win a race here, but then freshen him up again.
“There are no plans to race him before the (Inter Dominion) heats at this stage.”
Given the Perth experience, Hillier wants to ease Triedtotellya through the long trip from Tasmania to Brisbane.
“And I’d like to get up there a week before the heats, too,” he said.
“We’ll probably spend another week before that gradually making our way up (to Brisbane).”
Triedtotellya boasts 20 wins from just 28 starts and boasts $291,381 in prize money.
He has won 15 of his past 18 starts.
Managing owner Braden Howlett underlined the beauty of the Inter Dominion.
“It’s all about being part of a great series like the Inter Dominion. We all may never get another good enough to give it a crack,” he said.
