VENUE: Mildura
DATE: 29/05/26
Race 1:
OVERVIEW: MACHFREDDY (3) has been racing well in the South-East and appears to be well placed against this field. He endured a tough run when fourth at Bendigo last outing and he finished off well for third behind Captain Locksley three starts ago. SANTA CASA LEVI (4) did well at her debut after she dropped back to last from a wide alley, was held up for a run at a vital stage and finished off strongly for second. She obviously has ability and should be competitive under these conditions. MELS NIGHT OUT (1) was held up behind the tiring leader and had little luck when sixth behind Crusey last week. His form prior was consistent and he is drawn to go well. CRUEL MISTRESS (7) ran into a distant second at Mildura two starts ago and is worth thought from her trailing draw.
BACK: MACHFREDDY (3) – 2 units (win)
SELECTIONS: MACHFREDDY (3), SANTA CASA LEVI (4), MELS NIGHT OUT (1), CRUEL MISTRESS (7)
Race 2:
OVERVIEW: ROYAL SAXON (8) drops back to the second line but he has been in great form and completely dominated his rivals at his latest Mildura success so he should prove hard to beat again. NEVS DREAM (1) is racing in career best form having won six races for the season. She is a brilliant beginner and recorded fast time at her latest success so she looms as one of the leading chances. MIDNIGHT PIRATE (6) was confidently supported in a race of similar standard last week and battled on strongly for second. He was a big winner at Ouyen on May 10 and is worth thought again. The Alex Ashwood trained duo MANINSKY MOONSHINE (3) and LITTLE WONDER (4) are both likely to attract plenty of support from their good draw.
SELECTIONS: ROYAL SAXON (8), NEVS DREAM (1), MIDNIGHT PIRATE (6), MANINKY MOONSHINE (3)
Race 3:
OVERVIEW: FRENCH BEACH (4) has done well in her three placed efforts to date and strikes a suitable assignment. She made a mid-race move to park without cover and battled on strongly for third at Mildura last outing. STARZZZOFTERRY (5) battled on nicely for second at his Mildura debut and should be better for the experience. He is widely drawn but looms as one of the leading chances again. MAXI ANGEL (2) trailed the leader and held his own when second behind Al’s Choice at Ouyen then battled on fairly for fifth last week. He is worth an investment from his good draw. BLISSFULL RED (1) was placed from the pole position at Mildura three starts ago and is a minor place chance again from the same draw.
SELECTIONS: FRENCH BEACH (4), STARZZZOFTERRY (5), MAXI ANGEL (2), BLISSFULL RED (1)
Race 4:
OVERVIEW: ALL DA RAGE (8) was very impressive in winning at Globe Derby last outing where he shot to the lead from a wide draw and recorded a slick mile rate of 1.56.7. He is the winner of eleven races at Mildura and should run his usual honest race. PRIORITISE (7) is a tough campaigner and must be considered as a winning chance. He was taken to Melton and ran a cheeky race after setting the speed on May 02 then followed with a third in the Robinvale Cup. NOBLE TRICK (1) showed a glimpse of his best form when he sustained a long run out very wide on the track and finished third behind To The Nines then he worked hard in fast time at his latest sixth. He is perfectly drawn to suit his racing pattern and rates as a value hope. RIO ROCK (4) ran his best race for some time when a handy finishing third last week and is worth a ticket each way.
BACK: ALL DA RAGE (8) – 3 units (win)
SELECTIONS: ALL DA RAGE (8), PRIORITISE (7), NOBLE TRICK (1), RIO ROCK (4)
Race 5:
OVERVIEW: RUGGARDS GEE TEE (1) returns to trainer Alex Ashwood and was an impressive trial winner at Bendigo two weeks ago so he should prove hard to beat. He won at his only attempt at Mildura previously. THEBUCKSONYOU (7) has been a little below his best form since resuming but he is a handy horse when at his peak. He is drawn behind the likely leader and will appreciate a drop back in class so he gets his chance to improve on his numerical form. RUBBLEONTHEDOUBLE (5) had no luck whatsoever from a wide draw when a game second behind Hungry Hogarth last week. He is racing in good form and deserves to break through for a win. HIGHWAY HUSTLER (3) possesses early speed and was able to work to the front when she won at Port Pirie last outing. This is harder but she is worth thought again. SRIRACHA (2) and ROCKNROLL LENNY (6) could also show up without surprising.
BACK: RUGGARDS GEE TEE (1) – 2 units (win)
SELECTIONS: RUGGARDS GEE TEE (1), THEBUCKSONYOU (7), RUBBLEONTHEDOUBLE (5), HIGHWAY HUSTLER (3)
Race 6:
OVERVIEW: HESASTAR (6) pushed forward from a similar wide draw and eventually got up without cover when a brave third behind No Emotion last week. He is a tough type and is usually competitive against this class so he is worth an investment despite the wide draw. PUNTO CALIENTE (9) has been finishing off nicely against similar grade and is worth thought again. He settled midfield and was able to work into second in the race won by No Emotion last week. GRENADE (3) has had a few chances recently but he endured a tough run in a race that turned out to be a survival of the fittest when fifth at his latest attempt. He should give a bold showing from his good draw. ROCKING WROXTON (7) is drawn behind the likely leader GROVE DALE (1) so he is not without a chance.
SELECTIONS: HESASTAR (6), PUNTO CALIENTE (9), GRENADE (3), ROCKING WROXTON (7)
Race 7:
OVERVIEW: LOSEASHOE (10) was heavily supported and was able to power to the lead from a wide draw when he scored impressively two starts ago. He was severely checked at the 1300m and did a huge job to finish as close as he did when fifth last outing so he warrants respect. WHENIMREADY (8) worked to the front and held off his rivals to win at Shepparton two starts ago. He strikes a suitable race for his Mildura debut and should make his presence felt. GLITZY ALL OVER (11) possesses a handy finishing burst and is racing consistently. She will be dangerous if she can get the right trail into the race in the final circuit. ONLY ONCE BITTEN (6) ran a better race last outing and is worth thought along with OUR MASTER PLAY (7), which bounced back into winning form last week.
BACK: LOSEASHOE (10) – 1.5 units (each way)
SELECTIONS: LOSEASHOE (10), WHENIMREADY (8), GLITZY ALL OVER (11), ONLY ONCE BITTEN (6)
Race 8:
OVERVIEW: GUEST ARTIST (7) has been racing at Metropolitan level at Menangle and Melton recently so he will appreciate a significant drop back in class for this assignment. He is awkwardly drawn but should be finding the line well if he gains the right luck in running. ODINS BLACK CROWS (1) possesses early speed and is perfectly drawn over the sprint distance. He set up a genuine tempo when a distant third at Globe Derby last outing. MISTER BOOMBASTIK (11) produced a big finish to score at Mildura two starts ago then ran into a distant second behind the in-form pacer Royal Saxon last outing. He has claims along with AVOCA BLUES (8), whichraced very fiercely in the leading role and had excuses last week. He gets into this race with a concession claim and is a possible improver. RONZEL MICKY (10) is capable of sprinting to the line quickly with the right trail forward and rates as a knockout chance.
SELECTIONS: GUEST ARTIST (7), ODINS BLACK CROWS (1), MISTER BOOMBASTIK (11), AVOCA BLUES (8)
