Captains Mistress winning the 2026 Chariots Of Fire
GLAMOUR mare Captains Mistress is back in work with a Queensland assault on the cards.
The Jason Grimson-trained four-year-old won her first six starts for the stable before a desperately unlucky fifth to Leap To Fame in the Miracle Mile on March 14.
Those wins included the Chariots of Fire and Queen of the Pacific at Group 1 level.
“She’s back in the stables now,” owner Mick Boots said.
“There’s a couple of big races for her in Queensland and then we’ll decide if she goes to stud or races on.
“She’ll go to the Rising Sun and Golden Girl.”
The way the schedule falls, Captains Mistress will take on the boys in the $300,000 Group 1 Rising Sun first on July 4at Albion Park.
Victory would get her a golden ticket into the $1 million Inter Dominion final on July 18, but Boots said she would most likely tackle the $150,000 Group 1 Golden Girl on against mares’ only on the same night.
There is an option to run in the $30,000 Fleur De Lil in between her key targets on July 11.
Such is the boom on Captains Mistress, she is $1.60 pre-post favourite for the Rising Sun.
It seems very short considering potential rivals include star Kiwi pair Got Then Chocolates and Marketplace, last year’s TAB Eureka runner-up Fox Dan and star three-year-olds Hollywood Strip and Loucasso.
