Bruce Coram, part of the highly respected Victorian Coram family, whose trainer-driver father Ben won the Wayville (SA) 1937 Inter Dominion with Dans Son, passed away on Monday, March 16 at the age of 100 years.

The family were based at Braeside in the sand belt.

Bruce and brother Lloyd (dec) had been major participants in the Melbourne Showgrounds era, with horses such as Agog, Tara Valley, Louis Dore, Abigail, Petite Fleur, Bouquetiere, Top Joke and Sweet Trip, to name just a few.

It is interesting to note that Ben, Bruce and Lloyd were foundation members of the Cranbourne Trotting Club, with Bruce also a foundation and life member of the now defunct Caduceus Club.

Bruce was a well-respected 41-year member of the Sandringham Yacht Club, sailing his beloved “Misty Blue” on a regular basis around the bay.

Bruce was laid to rest on Monday, March 23.

HRV Chairman Bernard Saundry and the board extend their sympathy to the Coram family.
