Young Goulburn horsewoman Emma Day is pinning her hopes on the champion racehorse and emerging siring force Soho Tribeca at the Australian Pacing Gold Melbourne Yearling Sale on Sunday, February 15.
A member of the famous NSW harness racing clan, Day will be represented by three youngsters – two colts and a filly - at the sale and all were sired by Soho Tribeca. The trio are the only progeny of the American Ideal millionaire at APG sales in the country.
They represent Emma’s first foray into the Melbourne yearling sales arena.
“I’m pretty excited about selling for the first time in Melbourne,” Emma said. “I’ve helped my father Matt prepare yearlings for the Sydney sales for a number of years.
“My draft all have a nice temperament, are easy to do anything with and good movers.”
In a brilliant career Soho Tribeca won 21 of his 59 starts including seven in Group company for $1.1 million in stakes. Numbered among his successes were the WA Pacing Cup, WA Golden Nugget, Kilmore Cup, Vicbred Super Series 4YO and two heats of the Inter Dominion.
Soho Tribeca has matched his greatness as a racehorse in the siring field.
From his first two crops Soho Tribeca has sired 49 individual winners from 73 starters and they have banked $1.2 million.
They include the multiple Group 1 finalist Soho The Real Deal, last year’s top South Australian juvenile Hez So Royal, the Victoria Derby fourth placegetter Golden Tribe, Cease To React (WA Western Crown), Manhattan Ruby (WA North East Derby), Soho Tuxedo (Tas. Golden Slipper) and Manhatten Chick (QLD South East Oaks Listed).
The pick of Day’s draft is Lot 159, a grand looking, athletic filly from the Bettor’s Delight matron Vickymurphy, a daughter of the 2005 Australian Broodmare of the Year Vicky Hanover.
She’s a half-sister to four 2:00 winners headed up by the Youthful Stakes and APG Gold Bullion runner-up Drain The Swamp ($279,120), now competing successfully in North America.
Lot 122 is a half-brother to five winners including the APG heat winner All Done Up and the dual Group placegetter She Will Rock and a close relative of the 2020 WA Pacing Cup winner Mighty Conqueror.
Meanwhile the other Soho Tribeca colt is Lot 146, a fine, athletic youngster out of the Somebeachsomewhere mare Soho All Shook Up, who’s a half-sister to three sub 2:00 performers including the Tatlow Stakes winner and Vicbred Final placegetter Soho Angel.
The colt belongs to the immediate family of the Group 2 Bathurst Gold Bracelet victor Soho Honey Rider and the Group 3 Victorian winner Soho Bollinger.
